For anyone who has ran a stock geared fj80 3-fe on 35's is it miserable or doable? Thanks in advance!

You will notice it but I agree, "very doable". I don't regret doing it at all.

I just did this and it's totally doable, I even think 4.88s would be a bit much. Those running 5.29s with 315s is crazy.
I live in Illinois which is flat!
I tow 2 quads and didn't even feel em.

How about at 8,000 ft towing 3,000 lbs?

This is my dilemma. :( Love the look of the 35's on the 80 but feel like I must go 33's if I'm on stock gearing towing our camper in the Sierras.

@b16 In the Sierra or Rockies above 8000' to 12000', I had a hard time on stock gearing and 33s.

For example, loaded with my wife, two 60# dogs, plus all of our gear, the steeper eastbound Vail pass was only 24 mph, holding 2nd gear. The Sierra is only slightly lower.

Living and spending so much time at altitude was my motivator for a supercharger :).

Looks like I need to save up for a supercharger then... lol
