Here is what I did. I got an Alpine pwe-s8. It fit right in the cubbie. I did have to move my positive and negative power blocks (from these pictures) forward to still fit the little storage compartment. I ended up taking the compartment out and using a plastic cutting board and I piece of 3/4” plywood as a spacer for making a power port in place of the storage compartment. I had to do no cutting of the rear panel cover so it all still looks original. It give an old guy like me enough bass.
