Hi everyone!
I'm looking to replace an existing head unit in 80 series TLC with some aftermarket 1-DIN thingie (JVC!), just the stereo itself, nothing else. Then, probably, stuck CB UHF in spare slot, but that is a different topic.
Unfortunately, I'm utterly dumb and have no manuals on what does it take to plug something in instead of the existing one.
My view is that I would need some sort of DIN-compatible pocket, some sort of wiring harness adaptor and that is it.
Could anyone please give me a hint of what it takes (and how to do it in terms of removal of internal panels, etc) to replace stock stereo?
I'm especially curious of whether or not it is possible to plug in into existing wiring for speakers and where to get power.
Any links to FAQ or existing posts or anything like this would be appreciated - wasn't able to find anything specific on my own.
Also, is there a preferable place to stuck in an UHF unit? I'm looking at one with remote face panel, which means that base unit can be hidden inside the dash. The question is - where inside the dash? And how hard is it to remove the dash itself?
Thanks.
