thank you for the advice,

In installing a single din stereo and a single din CB, do I need to purchase any kind of mounting hardware?

I've searched threads but could not find that answer.

Thanks

No, the bracket should be able to handle both radios. However you may need some type of face plate depending on aesthetics.

Shameless plug.

Alternately you could mount your CB in an overhead console. That would allow you more space for a cb with upper and lower sideband as well as pa output. http://m.ebay.com/itm/281621298580?nav=SEARCH

This also allows you to utilize your full radio space for something with a bigger screen for nav, backup camera, ect.

Mounting a CB in the lower radio slot is a pain in the ass ! Its not big deal if you don't mind it sticking out an inch or two past the plate. But if you want it to look nice your going to have to figure out a different way to hook up the coax cable. The cb itself will fit great and is deceiving, once you hook the coax to it you have added an additional 1-2 inches of length.

The Slee website had a project thread where they modified a CB antenna connector to allow deeper mounting. Fairly simple mod if you can solder.

Mine is almost flush. :meh: I used a 90* elbow.

Thanks everyone... I mounted it last night. Surprisingly it was not too bad. I was concerned about mounting brackets. Fortunately the stock backed bolted up perfectly to the stereo. Then the CB fit tight and perfect in the space below the stereo.
Right now it does stick out a little, I will find a 90 and put that in.

Thanks again!

How did you wire your power up. Did you use the power to the radio or did you go straight to the battery? I am installing a cobra 18 now under my JVC radio and I can't decide which way to go?

Here are some pictures of my install. I sourced power from the other radio plug. DSCN1833.webp DSCN1834.webp DSCN1738.webp DSCN1739.webp

I ran power from a fuse on the driver side. Grounded to bolt in that same area. I found a constant hot wire because I wanted to be able to use the CB when the ignition is off.

has anyone found a blank faceplate so you can cut for your needs? I want to go with a single din stereo but I have a small uniden I want to put in there. i don't want the spaces on the sides...

Install looks good.

Check out the electronics section and you'll find threads on the install of the Cobra you have.

I used to have a Uniden 520 in the lower din location and I had to use a 90 degree elbow to get it to sit flush.
