n00b question here: Did you have to build motor mounts for this? I didn't see anything in regarding this...
Yes,
the motor mounts need to ground off the frame and new mounts need to be welded in place.
the stock cross member needs to be modified to accommodate the nv4500 tail house mount. as well as countless other modifications.....

After a Major stall in the build due to me trying to
"re-invent the wheel" I decided to pulled the trigger on the AA & 60 split case.
had to have my drive line re made again.....the shop "ate" my front drive line.
got the case all cleaned up installed with the AA and finally received my speedy sleeves and seals for the case outputs. so i can now fill it with oil.
unfortunately the only two people i know of that can link the suspension are booked up until dec/1st of the year.
which is a bummer because i don't really want to drive it with the suspension all wacky.
I did find a way to make the stock 80 air filter work. I'm pretty stoked on that considering the stocker its a pretty sweet setup.
guess ill spend the next couple months making it just so...
ill post up some picture soon it looks kinda shabby now its covered in about 2 years worth of dust.

Do you have any pics of this? Do you think it's enough air for the cummins? Also do you have anymore pics of the intake pipe you built? Was the motor originally inner cooled or non inner cooled?

non inter cooled,
I'm waiting on a 3.5"x3" reduction elbow to complete the air intake.I will post some finished pics ounce it shoes up. The filter seems plenty big and the design is the best i have seen. the intake pipe from the grid heater to the turbo was made because my buddy needed the original part and....well took it. so i had to fab up a quick test pipe. i think ill paint it black and runny it permanently.
cross member is done drive train is in, tires have been mounted on the rims,
gotta get some trans oil, finish the air filter piping and throw a battery in and i should be able to test run.
I'm trying to use the getrag master/slave cylinder assm due to the fact i have already modded the fire wall to accommodate this system. hopefully it has the correct throw. if not it should be an easy fix by shortening or lengthening the slave cylinder rod.

I would go with the NV4500 to and Orion... My 80 walks the con and can go 70+ on the freeway at 2k rpm's. awesome setup.. Nice Build. You will enjoy it!

Thanks,
I'm not ready to get excited, but I'm close.
I just need to figure out what I'm going to do with the suspension. Originally I planned on having S.O.R.D make the suspension right.
But Skyler and my other buddy that are great fab guys are all busy until Dec/Jan and I don't really want to wait. I'm thinking I might just weld some adjusters in myself, looks like Slee's has all the hardware I need.

Are you running the stock 80 axles?

Yes I am running stock locked axles and 315's.

if you dont mind me asking what was the cost on that orion? i assume it bolted up to the NV without adapting?

tranny shifter pic in relation the to dash??

When you cut the NV4500 output shaft did you measure from the plate or the back of the transmission housing?

Can I bug you again for a pic or part number of the lower radiator hose you used? Thanks in advance! Also need more updates!

sure,
I used the late model nv4500 one of many benifits of the late model NV is it has a much better trans top/shift housing which puts the shifter farther back than the earlyier nv4500's, only a slight bend in the lower section will be needed as well as a shorter shifter...youl see why when i post the pics.

I cut measuring from the end of the shaft as well as from the base. measure twice cut ounce......

sure ill be at the shop tmro ill snap a few pics then. since its moving under its own power now I can take it to get the suspension measured, I hope I dont need SLEE front lower control arms....they ar an awsome product but kinda spendy.....will see how my caster #'s come out.

the trans i put in was used with a 6mo warrenty and the third gear syncros are going out as it grinds like a SOB when shifted. hopefully the guys i got it from don't try to screw me.

Dude,

I wanta ride... Caster correct bushings should be plenty. Hit me up if you need an extra hand.

ive got the links for the front, rear pan hards and rear UCA and DOM steering links headed my way. after I have it measured tmro ill know if the CC bushings will work.

I have a bit of interest in seeing this finished and how all the pieces go together. I saw the mother of all swaps yesterday and it has peeked my interest.

A contractor we work with had a powerstroke with a cummins in it, but it was a 24 valve motor that he had put a 12 valve mechanical pump and front cover on. Custom injectors, custom bent lines, custom turbo, all the OE Ford sensors plumbed into the dodge block and sounded like an effin International Harvestor when he cranked it up. It made me start thinking about this swap.

Thanks. I have an earlier NV so I will have to get creative.

What are your plans for sound deadening and insulation?

nice .. just a question .. where was the application for that cummins .. wonder that coz the turbo looks pretty off with the intake ..
