Dear all,

This is the first thread i have posted in this site and ive got a project i am working on will talke about soon, so lets get started.

Make: Toyota
Model: Landcruiser FJ73 FRP top
Year: 1985

I will be posting some pics on my car and any upgrades have been installed in this thread soon and hope you will enjoy.

I just have a question, does anyone have an idea on where to find a good engine swap kit for converting a 3F petrol engine with 5-speed manual transmission to a 2JZGTE engine?

Thanx

I doubt you will find a 2JZGTE in any Cruiser .. but I know guy that's putting one in a Suzuki Samuray .. ( well what left from Suzuki ) in Chile ..

IMO you would be better off fitting a 1FZ FE as it was fitted to later model 7* series. All the parts are available to do a bolt on job.
The 2JZGTE are great engines in the Cressida/Chaser and the others, but have to rev too high to build the HP/torque a 4wd needs.
A 1FZ FE with a turbo or TRD supercharger would do everything you want and be a much easier install.

According to Wiki they were never offered with a manual trans.
Ive never seen a kit for installing these into a landcruiser and if Marks Adapters dont have one,it will be all new ground for you to traverse.

Malaysia is a good place.

Why PETROL and why not a DIESEL donk

a 2JZ is a hoon boys engine.

WHat country are you from please fill out your profile.

JUst send me the FJ73 I will look after it with a nice diesel DONK.

a 2JZ unless VVTI needs to run at 2000rpm just to move whch means a lot of clutch slipping and makes you look/sound like an amatuer driver . there is more torque available with a VVTI 2JZ and it is more driveable than the normal 2JZ .

There is a lot better choices out there it is a TRACK engine (300+hp stock and will run to 800 without any issue) traffic light racer not a JUNGLE engine especially as a manual.

Thanks for your responses.. here are some info on my engine.

I am planning to get it up to 750-850hp

with CP pistons, Eagle connectoing rods, AEM computer Version II, HKS camshaft, HKS camshaft pulley with belts, A 5" Intercooler and finally a Garret 46 single turbo...

I am a modification freak guy, i love engine so much that i dreamt of installing this little monster into my 85 landcruiser. Anyways, i am going for this engine to answer some question in my thread.

I live in Kuwait, we've got some good mechanic guys over here that they are planning to install a hand made conversion kit for my ride, but when i was greedy for more power, i was concerned over the bellhouse if it can withstand that enourmous hp.

marks4wd hasnt got any conversion kits, people everywhere are talking about installing a LS engine into the truck, but i have a theory...

" Once its Japanese, it has to stay Japanese!"

i will provide you guys today with some pictures, and still if anyone can provide me with a good quality conversion kit for this particular mix, i would be soo glad.

Thnx guys, wait for pics today and you guys will enjoy this project ;)

We're hunger for that! Pictures will quench it, Please.:D
By the way, since you have all racing gear ready. Why did you chose FJ73 as your project car?

I like your phrase:
" Once its Japanese, it has to stay Japanese!"

which it's the target of your build .. I mean your off road target .:? if you going sand .. ( thought the most you have there ) nice .. but if not you may considere a 2 stage turbo making low end boost ..

BTW 2JZ fan here .. such an amazing engine ..

Once upon a time, we (me and my friends) gathered together to pick a car for bird hunting. Back in our country this is on of the most well known sports. Anyways, i found this car for sale but the engine was a bit rusty, bought the car and told to myself to replace the engine for a better powerful one, lool to ease up the chase of birds in the desert. The convertible style on the car will make it easier for us to hunt.

Long story short, i tried to purchase a new 2000-2009 landcruiser v6 engine but they told me that i needed to change my transmission too and was so expensive (approx. $9,000 just for the engine and the transmission). then i was told that the 2j is cheaper and more powerful.

Now i am challenging myself to install a wonderful 2J engine into that mighty monster toyota
