Hi,
While changing the oil filter today, I noticed one of my vacuum hoses wasn't attached to anything. Where is this one supposed to be going?
From the top, rear of the air filter (where there are three hoses coming out), it's the largest hose of the three ... sort of wraps around the air filter and then dangles right over the oil filter. That's the one that came undone. Where is it supposed to go?

It goes to the right nipple on your distributor cap.

Thanks. I just plugged it in. My dist. cap (looks aftermarket) had a cap over the nipple there so I couldn't see it. Not sure why. But I'm assuming this thing should be hooked up, so I removed the nipple cap and plugged the hose in. Weird thing is, I've driven the car since purchase (about 12k miles ago) with that dist. cap not connected to the hose there. Does it do anything? Do some caps not need that vacuum hose?

Regardless, thanks for clearing up the mystery hose question..

It's a ventilation hose, which I'm geussing helps prevent condensation buildup in there, but I really have no idea.

Got it... Thanks again!

distributor cap ventilation

The EFI intake supplies the vacuum, that little hose provides a pathway
for air to flow from
inside the cabin into the distributor and then in to the air filter.
The idea is that cabin air is dry and clean - keeping the inside
of the distributor dry and clean as well.

Or so I've been told.
