It's that time. 245,000 miles and my TCase is growling mightily when she's in 4x4 (just started this season) but quiet otherwise... Anyone have a good used FJ62 Vacuum switched TCase? Don't think I'm going to bite the bullet and try to rebuild myself. Lemmekno!
Thanks for the head up there... Think I'm ok on the Trans output (at least I hope so), the Vortec / 4l60e / Advanced Adapter spline are only a few years old.
I've been looking through a couple TCase rebuild threads here and while I can turn a wrench, I am a bit concerned about my lack of experience and tools for such a job. I did decide to have Marlin rebuild the 3rd member in January so, the truck will be down for 4 weeks. On a rebuild like this, with a good kit... What are the gotchas? Appreciate the insights.
Also, is there FSM link somewhere here that I haven't found?
BTW - The ACC guys are a great crew... I'll keep that in mind as well.
No gotchas on a split case. The factory manual has a very good set of drawings and instructions.
The only thing that even took extra care, was pressing the output gears off and back on with the new bearings, and then adjusting the output bearing preload, which you do with a set of shims that sit under the bearing race. Most of the times the existing shim is the right thickness, but occasionally will need to be re-shimmed to get it exactly right.

I was thinking you were still 3fe with auto. skip my original comments then.
have you checked the oil level?
The transfer case should go years with out any issues. Has it been driven much since the swap?
who did the swap, maybe there was an issue with the install.
The transfercase would/should have been rebuilt, gone thru, during the install as that is the only way to put it together.
