Did you ever find the part number for the bolts? Would be good info for this thread.

Couple bucks a piece but definitely worth it to avoid aggravation.

Personally never broke a bolt on a thermostat housing but I always use anti-seize on most everything. Learned that when working on tractors and boats.

Same here, though I still try to avoid reusing bolts if I can. Broken a few on reinstallation before due to annealing, so I try to just go new when it's a small investment.

Wonder if I can get a Snow Version gasket!

You know I couldn't resist @ToyotaMatt

mr spook , no cold spec. gaskets that i know of

but ....

since toyota's current thermostat housing's hardware is circa. era. hot-dipped galvanized outdated simple minded weak and sadder then sad ....

i have snapped my share of not so old 12mm HEX sandwich bolts , and snapped a few lower housing block face bolt ears off too in the past ...

a single lock washer is outdated engineering technology , they bite on the way out because nobody thought about that in 1961 ....

a wider flat washer distributes the torque yield evenly over a larger surface area , and the lock washer does not bite into a smooth and same grade steel smooth flat surface

i wondered why one day , and after doing what i do we now have a better choice .

better is better , stronger is stronger and things like JIS double SEMS washers
, and the highest salt spray rated surface treatment possible all add up to

SNOW VERSION grade modern age 2025 updated and upgraded for 1961-1990 F , F1.5 , 2F 3F carb 3F-E series engines ....
.

12mm hex / M8 sandwich bolts : 91611-B0845 = JIS
#4 mark head / my updated = JIS #7 mark head

14mm hex / M10 block face bolts 91611-61025 = JIS
#6 mark head / my updated = JIS #8 mark head

- Surface treatment :
violet blue silver zinc = highest salt spray rating / verses toyota galvanized = low salt spray rating
