alright, now it's back to the regularly scheduled program. in other words, hijack over! ;p
IT"S ALIVE! i had done some research in my factory workshop manual and was able to figure out that you really only need to jump one connector for the neutral safety switch to get the system to work. so now the neutral switch is bypassed and it runs. the way i set it up, the cruiser will start in any gear. in this application, that's fine since the rig will be wheeled and sometimes it's a good thing to be able to start a vehicle in gear. you just have to keep it in mind at all times.....
so i got it started. runs fine but with half the exhaust removed it's kinda loud. and the engine did'nt run perfect since the O2 sensors were just dangling without being attached to the exhast system, or what was left of it anyways.
got the 62 loaded on the trailer and took it to the exhaust shop yesterday. there it received a new 2-into-1 collector, then single 2 1/4" pipe to a stainless dynaflow muffelr and out the rear like the stock exhaust routing. the stock Os sensors were installed and the exhaust was run inside the frame to protect it. the rear section was also tucked up higher to keep it out of harms way.
went back to the exhaust shop later in the day and picked up the cruiser. drove it back to the shop. runs really well, even sounds a bit better. first imperssion was really good!
i did have some extra road noise cause the front carpet and trans tunnel are still out of it. but the shifting was smooth, the power felt good. overall, i'm really happy with how it turned out. now i need to build a twin stick shifter for the split case and cut the tunnel some more to allow the toybox shifters' full motion.
i'll try to post some more pics latertoday or tomorrow. if everything goes as planned, brett will be able to come get his cruiser this weekend.
