I had searched a lot for various wheel/tire combinations so for anyone doing the same I'm posting this for the digital record.

I went with the following:

Toyota 16" Steel rims (~$180)
Falken 235/85/16 Wildpeak A/T3W (~$125/ on Amazon)

I had been running Toyota stock 15" steel with BFG A/T KO 31/10.5/15 and they felt way to heavy on the road (and were too noisy for me). Steering felt heavy as well as acceleration from standing was sluggish.

I like the classic look of the taller/narrower stance. I rarely go off road so all I need is a setup to handle the North East weather of snow/ice.

I hope this helps someone's research...

Thank you! They are stock color - although the silver is only on the outer rim. Black on the inner rim. I got them from Cruiser Parts. Brand new in Toyota packaging and Toyota red/white OEM stickers on rims. Kinda cool you can still find these out there at a very reasonable price IMO.

I'm very happy with the way it rides. Its amazing how just changing the tires can make such a large difference in ride quality. I think these Falken ATs still have a little aggressive look - although not like the BGF AT KO2s. I've got Michelin LTX AT 265/75/16 (on American Racing mags) on my FJ60 w/OME and they ride great but they almost look too "street".

Just got the rims that Beno recommended: 42601-60262-03

Discount tires won’t mount 33’s or 255/85/16. Was hoping not to lose 2” off the height and not to go super skinny with 235/85/16.... are there any other options?

So I was curious and did some searching and it looks like the Falken's weigh 47.8 lbs/tire and have a diameter of 31.7" vs the BFG's which have a rolling diameter of 30.5" and weigh 43.96 lbs/tire. So the new tires are a bigger diameter and heavier but they are narrower. So I'd think the acceleration would feel even more sluggish with the falkens but steering should be a little better with the narrowness. Unless the Falkens are a stiffer tire which is entirely possible....if so I'd think your ride quality would degrade but you might feel like handling and acceleration had improved.
