Hi all, periodically upon filling the tank the truck will leak fuel from the filler area. Any idea on what’s causing this?

Thank you in advance.

any idea where the leak is coming from? is it out the cap or inside the quarter panel?

could be the evap/vent system plugged

When that was happening to me, it was the seal on the gas cap. When the rig was full of gas and parked on a slight incline (like the crown of the road) then it would leak there. With a full tank you should be able to tell whether it is that or the filler pipe.

Yes ,

the specific cause of your fuel leak is do to the Aftermarket gas / petrol cap you have installed in your Very Detailed and Excellent Tech Photos above ...
this cap is NOT a OEM TOYOTA Correct cap , hence it is NOT properly Vented and or is actually
2-way vented is more likely a better definition
the correct oem TOYOTA Gas / PETROL / or DIESEL Fuel caps 8/80-1990 all things 60 series globally both locking and non-locking are
1-way venting inward only ....
they do NOT let air pressure and or fuel come outward ......
you also will need to take some Emery Cloth , stuff a paper towel in the filler neck hole 1st of course , and knock-down ANY sharp edges on the TIGERS TEETH filler neck engaging profile lip / edges ,
be aware ! they can be sharp and jagged enough to send you to the ER for more then a few Stiches , as in Razor Sharp !
make sharp metal , dull and have a pleasing Bull-Nose feel to the edging , just like a Butter Knife
this is how they were originally when new
shop vac out all the small debris before removing the paper towel plug you 1st made and carefully snugged in ....
see my tech pics and lick , NOTE the Edging profile of teh OEM Tigers Teeth Petrol Cap ....
match its edging feel and profile best you can
apply some Di-Electric grease a thin smear to the NEW OEM Cap's Thick and hearty EPDM rubber gasket , and the mating surface face of your filler neck metal this last details that matter and matter do details application will ensure smooth engagement and tight metal to EPDM seal ..
let us know how my step by steps approach works for you please , reply back pic of before and after ,,,,
this is exactly how i solved GHOST's filler neck issue , of not making a air tight seal with a new oem non-locking cap ....

i Never had gas Spew out like you have ....fyi
hope this helps

Plus : you don't have the Snappy OEM Twist Handle to Hang it properly like my TECH Video side on-topic below .....
