Do the rear 3 pt belts stay locked when you pull the belt out all the way (for a car seat install)?

My 200 series and 4Runner both allow the retractor to stay locked if you pull the belt out all the way and then retract it, leaving a car seat snug using just the belt. The 3 pt donor belts I just installed do not. They do lock if I pull them hard and fast, but don't go into "locking mode" when fully retracted. (Hope that makes sense).

Just trying to figure out if this is the normal function, or if I need to get the mechanisms repaired...TIA!

I can check mine when I get home but I don’t think they had that option for car seats 30 years ago

Your car seat should have come with a locking clip as seen here:
(At least mine did 16 years ago for my kiddos)
