yes you can powdercoat AL, and it should be cheaper than steel, since it heats up faster. but if you have al and want the grey look why not just use a bead blaster to get a slight grey look to them? actually most powdercoaters will sand blast the item to be coated first to give it some texture, they might be able to do this for you alone and not paint them, and save some $

I will look into that- my next question is does anyone know of a good powdercoater by asheville?

Adam-

Check with the guys at Rhino Lining near the airport. They seem to know where all the mod stuff in Asheville is.

Hey Adam, what is your goal for your cruiser....wheeler..DD...light wheeling? And how big a lift do you have at the moment? And what size tires are you running? I read your post on keeping your current tires, correct? Reason I'm asking is just to provide some FYI for future use....not sure of your edumacation on tires so if I'm beating a dead horse, I'll go ahead and apologize.....You've got a sweet lookin cruiser and one thing you can run into with a 60 and a wide tire is rubbing on the rear fenders. Now most of the time this doesn't hurt anything but their is that rare occasion where it can "smash/crumple" the fender. With a sweet cruiser like yours I would lean towards a skinny tire like JP or David Harrison runs....it's tucked up under your fender and if you do articulate enough then it's just going to rub the inside fender and not cause any damage to the painted part of the cruiser. Just something to think about before you buy your new wheels for your future tire purchases. Good luck with the wheels....post up some pics when ya get em on!

Gotta make sure you BS and width are right or it can get close. My 12.5 on 15x8.5 w/ 3.25 BS tuck well.

Thanks Chuck, I am mainly DD and just come very light wheeling- read getting to campsites without worry. I agree with you on tire size.

there is a state hwy patrolman in sylva that powder coats... his name is denny woods...

I havent done it yet, but I keep looking at the eastwood powder coating kit. Just remember when, not if you scratch the powder, etc then its a lot harder to repair. Thats why many go with spray bomb. But from what I have been seeing you wont be doing much that would damage powder. :)
