Looking Good!!!!

Thanks Gimpey for taking some pictures of this beast!

Glad to see it's coming together.

What did you end up using for a fuel filter on the firewall? I am still running just the one factory fuel filter, but I am looking at doing like you and Doug720 did with the filter/separator on the firewall.

Also, what is that black tank on the left of the engine with the screw top for?

Thanks,

Don

i used a racon style sediment filter for my pre injector pump filter.

The black tank is my power steering reservoir.

update:

reviews on the ranger OD...if you don't mind the loud wine and sloppy shifting (possibly made worse by using 2 flywheels) it's great. I put it in OD and keep it there.

put 19 gallons in the tank on Sat of last week, have put 190 miles on it and still have almost 3/4's of a tank of fuel. Will get MPG measurments sometime this weekend.

The engine is loud and shakes everything. I need to bring the idle up a bit more. I'm using the stock 2F motor mounts.

Lots of power but the sloppy shifting of the ranger OD still makes it impossible to keep up with stop/go traffic. Luckily the cruiser is big and the people behind me wanting to do 50 in a 35 for a few yards before slamming on their brakes for the next light are not so big.

I love the swap. Wife hates the swap. Dogs don't care whats under the hood.

Have not done any wheeling yet but have pulled our fork lift out of a hole in 2wd high in reverse with ease. I love the 11" clutch.

Still have a few minor bugs to work out but it's a quirky fun DD

I look at 350's on a daily basis off craigslist. Would love to do an engine swap and get it over with but i think the wife would kill me and get it over with.

Looking good, Josh!

I'm using factory Isuzu motor mounts and I had to raise my idle speed up to about 800 to minimize the vibrations and it made a big difference. At 650 rpm I thought it was going to shake my windshield wipers right off the truck!

Mine is definitely louder than my 350 was. I think I will put down some sound deadener when I replace my carpet this spring.

Enjoy the MPG's!

Don

22.1 mpg according to my odometer on my first tank of fuel

Not sure if the 31" tires throw it off in the good or bad

I had long idle times for the little guy in the morning so it's warm for him. I also don't cut it off when i drop him off at day care in the mornings (extra 5-7min each morning there)

and then long idle times for repairs like thermostat, exhaust, idle adustments/tach adjustments/etc

hopefully once i can go to 2-3 min warm ups i can get about 23-24mpg city.

You need to add that to your sig!

Larger tires mean your odo is registering low/slow which means you are actually getting better mpg.

I saw your Cruiser outside the shop this morning. One morning I'll have time to stop!

lol..i need to!

The 2nd or 3rd time i put my 2yr old in the cruiser after the swap he said "it loud" about 12 times on the way from day care to home (about 2 miles)

If i start to put him in the wifes pilot and he can see my car he cries and points toward the cruiser saying "daddy car" so i'm guessing the wife is out numbered.

Sweet, i was really hoping for about 25mpg city. I really need to invest in GPS one day. Especially one that will do both water/street and is waterproof.

Stop by any morning! This time of year i'm so dead that i have caught up on pretty much every TV show i follow for the past year.

i never turn down work!
