Lemme know if u want me to come up one morning and take some pics of your progress for u

any morning works for me bro.

Ran into a slight snag on re-assembly. The ranger over drives for 4speed LC trannys are machined for pre 87 transmissions. The 87 land cruiser tranny has a larger OD input shaft bearing and i believe a larger coutnter shaft bearing as well.

This means that my Ranger OD won't fit without machining.

I figured machine work of this kind would run me 100-200 bucks. Luckily AA can sell me a new one machined to my specs for 135+ shipping with the larger ID seal in the back for the input shaft of the LC tranny.

Got it on order, hope it will be here mon or tues.

Today i'll be installing the fj62 throttle cable/pedal assy and removing the pass fender to sand/paint some rust on the inside from battery the battery.

Pressure washed the filthy frame/engine bay from years of a leaky ps pump and rear main seal.

Also going to touch up the paint on the front portions of the frame. The 2" body lift makes access to the frame much easier.

Sunday is looking like it just might work. I'll let you know Friday.

ended up not using the fj62 pedal assembly, just the fj62 throttle cable.

the retaining clip will fit into the grove of the fj60 pedal with a little modification then bendling the upper part of the pedal assy (where the t.cable connects) over the the right about an inch. Fits like it belongs there.

Even has a nice flush spot with the correct shape for drilling/mounting the t.cable assy on the firewall.

I pulled the carpet to cut the hole for the ranger over drive shifter. I have an extra tranny/tc boots and cover plate so i'll be able to fab it up where the ranger OD shifter looks stock. Just need to get a black shifter knob for it.

crossing my fingers the ranger overdrive plate comes in today and fits as it should. Times running out on my ability to finish the swap here at the shop.

Hope to get the engine in tom morning and make any necessary mods/welds to engine mount brackets. My dual flywheel assy is not completed yet but it would be nice to go ahead and run my clutch/fuel/powersteering lines as well as find out how much space i have for my custom clutch slave bracket.

Once the engine is in i'll know how much lift/if any that i will need.

I still have not yet put the 2-1/2 over stock shackels in the front of the cruiser, i also plenty of leafs to add to the stock packs.

i've already added 2 leafs to each rear pack. To add anymore it will require extended U bolts.

I'm hoping worse case scinero i have to add a total of 4 springs to each rear, extended rear U bolts, 2.5 OS front shackels in front and 2 extra leafs in front with shim kit/extended U bolts.

The 2" body lift allows me much more clearance to put the engine higher in the bay (sacrificing COG) and i'll have to modify my tranny mount bracket.

I also thought about a snorkel but the more i think about it the snorkel would be too ricey for me. I'm going to mount my AF in the highest point of the engine bay (about level with my CD player) I'm not going to ruin a good CD player just to play in the water

ARGH!!!! got in the new ranger plate and it doesn't fit.

Have to send it back and get it re machined. This time i'm sending in the bearing cover for them to reference at the AA machine shop.

this is getting a little irritating. I'm running out of time to park the rig at the shop and i'm running out of patience with being shipped wrong parts.

no one could do it locally??

I'm sure they could but AA's price on a plate shipped with the needed machine work was less than what i was quoted by a machine shop with me providing the plate.

AA is going to make this one right for me i'm sure. Just one of those things, the 87 cruiser tranny is an odd ball.

oh yeah, i bought the same seal for the front input shaft as the back. Napa had 2 different part#s and neither was the same as the back. I can take it back if it doesn't fit but for 8bucks it is worth a try. Will let u know later next week.

This swap is a pain in the ass. Kinda fun.

engine mount brackets welded in. The engine goes in today.

The tranny cross member will need to be modded but hard work is done

Engine in, ranger OD and tranny bolted up. Most of the fuel lines are connected, radiator and elec fan installed.

all i lack is running some wiring, heater hoses and get custom drive shafts mon morning

sorry i didnt make it dude. Had a crazy schedule saturday.

All I lack is exhaust, a few new holes for shifters and welding new crossmember. Should hear her run Tom, ran out of daylight today

You're also lacking some pictures!

You're killing us doing a cool conversion like this with no pics!

C'mon man, borrow a camera from someone, We're dying to see this.

Congrats on your progress so far!

Don

maybe someone can come by with a camera for me!!!

We have 4 digital cameras and not one of them has a charger anymore.

call me in the morning so i can drag my lazy butt up there and take some pics for u. Already told the wife i was gonna do it i just need some encouragement sometimes.

lol...i suck at taking pics myself. Seems the only time i snap any pics or have time to snap pics is when we are on vacation.

After this week. i need a vacation.

Cross member made, will possibly need some more mods once i install my front drive shaft.

Working on 2.5 mandrel bend custom exhaust now. Once the exhaust is fitted i can prime the fuel system and start it up.

Started up and ran great after I repaired the fuel leaks. All I lack now are some small welds and random tweaks here and there so long as she test runs well tom.
