Searching through forum but I’m wondering if there are any exact match options for OEM seat covers?

My back seat is perfect, the fronts need replacing and id like everything to match?

If there isn’t anything that’s exact, what options are there for a similar match, where they offer door panels too?

Lastly - anyone know any good upholstery shops in NC?

I am going through a similar situation. Here's what I have found:

A thread with good info is here - Seat Cover Replacement

Therein is a supplier of fabric - SMS Auto Fabrics, 350 South Redwood St., Canby, OR 97013. Email is info@smsautofabrics.com

I contacted Cruiser Corps who has seat covers in a fabric that is very similar to the original. They advised me they could make covers for me if I sent them the fabric I wanted. They told me it would take about 2.5 yards of fabric and 1.5 yards of vinyl for the front seats. If I supplied the materials (about $300 with the prices in the thread above), they would make the set covers for $400. So, the total would be about $700 using round numbers). I looked at the math and will not take this route as having the more original looking cloth is not that critical for me. I can buy their covers for less than $400 and be happy. Cruiser Corps were great to work with in this back-and-forth Q & A process.

The only complaints about the Cruiser Corps product I have seen in this forum is it doesn't have cut-outs for the headrests and other attachment points. That isn't a big deal to me and their logic for not doing the headrest openings is reasonable - not everybody uses the headrests and cutting a small opening is easy and not a cosmetic negative.

Good luck.

I used this shop in Raleigh in the past. They redid a set of door cards from my last FJ62. They do great work, but are not cheap. Like @jjvbva said, I purchased the fabric and took it to them.

This is great info, thank you!!

Curious, for $700, is that for both driver front and passenger front seats (i.e. two seat covers)? I'm assuming they then send the finished seat covers to me and I would either install myself or contact a local shop to install them?

send the seat fabrics to nomad cruisers. theyll redo the upholstery and send them back to you

Yes, using my rounded estimates. Once I got to $700, I dropped it as an option (budget). I did not shop alternative local places to make ones if I provided the material. I pursued CC because it was suggested that they have the pattern and a person who makes them to order. I thought having the pattern and an experienced person making them, my total cost would be comparable to buying theirs. They would just use my fabric. There was no need to make a new pattern so no additional time (labor).

My next question was how much fabric and what would be the cost to me. They came back with $400 labor with my material. Using that I came up with about $300 for material for two seat covers. I thought the $400 for labor was too pricey. If it was $400 and they did the material too, I would have taken them up. I have no idea if the SMS Auto Fabric prices are high or low. I used the price info provided in the earlier referenced thread.

Their product seems nice and I haven’t seen any negative reviews so I am planning on going with them (unless something comes up in this thread that causes me to rethink that angle). The actual taking out the seats and putting the covers on is not a master mechanic task. Anybody should be able to do it with a little patience and the right tools (hog ring pliers). You shouldn’t need a professional to install them.

I didn’t shop local because I figured their prices would mirror CC.

Hog ring pliers and hog rings are less expensive on Amazon than directly with CC. There are bent pliers and straight ones (I used straight ones on my first rodeo) and I am curious if the bent ones are better. I started another thread on that (early returns say use straight ones). I don’t know what size hog rings are needed (3/4”, 1/2”, 3/8”) but the ones/sets on Amazon have all three sizes generally.
