FJ60 Non-bull bar Front Bumper Options

I'm currently looking to replace my ARB bull bar with a simpler, possibly stock, front bumper. The ARB is a bit much for my 60 at the moment, as Its more of a cruisin/camping rig.

What front bumpers are available for the 60 these days? I remember seeing an aftermarket, black, stock bumper design. I've searched but I cant seem to find who sells these.

The 4 plus is a lower profile. I prefer it to the arb

I also think the ARB bumpers are too heavy for what they do. Possible problem with the stock front bumper is that you can't really use a high-lift jack on it without denting it. I use an adapter in the spring mounts for this..

I'm not aware of any "low profile" aftermarket bumpers...I like the 4+ products...but if you don't like what you have then I expect you would not like the 4+ either, but thats just my assumption. I have the 4+ bumper and I like it. I would keep what you have...given lack of alternatives.

The OEM bumper really doesn't hold up to any sort of "bump," so unless the ARB really rubs you the wrong way, I would just leave it on there.

I also have a 4+ and i really like it. It's a little more "low profile" than the ARB, but if you're looking for a stock look, it still probably wont be what you're looking for.

If you really hate the look, you could cut off the radiator/headlight guards and just leave the bumper bare. It would still be about 20x stronger than stock replacement.

I've got a pretty plain front. Not sure of the manufacturer as it came on mine when I bought it. I had it forsale but no takers. Currently it's on the trailer for scrap. Here's a pic. Let me know if you like it. I know this isn't the classifieds but if it's something you want, I'm feeling a pay it forward mood. $12.95 for a 6 pack of Ranger beer + shipping. I'd hate to throw it away, but I have too much stuff I keep tripping over!

I would be willing to trade my stock fj62 bumper. Great condition plus some cash for your ARB. Shipping might be a little bit of a hassell though!

Have you thought about cutting off the brush guard on the arb?

I wanted something simpler and lower profile as well. I just cut the upper part off and in my opinion looks better. Shows off the front end more.

They came on the truck when I bought it. They're stamped HJ60 on the inside, but Im not sure who made them... They would look perfect with a larger tire, but then I would not be able to park in my small garage.


Thanks for the replies, I'll probably fabricate something as suggested. I'm in no rush... It's also not about hating the look of the ARB. I think its the best looking bull bar out there. However, a bull bar just doesn't serve any purpose to me in a non-rural setting, which is where most of my driving is done.

I’m totally thinking of doing the same thing. When you cut off the upper sections were you just left with some sanding to do?
