Looking for the following to freshen up my LX450:
Drivers side step rear end cap
4wd shifter boot
1 center cap for stock (non chrome) wheels. Will buy set at the right price. Grey with gold Lexus symbol.
Upper portion of the rear tailgate from a beige vehicle
If some one knows a wrecking yard that specializes in 80's/LX450's please let me know

Wait a sec. Although trolling for parts, I'm more interested in the fact someone else has had theirs apart and has the same problem I do (with the radio that is)...
Yep, it's the LCD backlight where the numbers are. Can't see it very well during the day and can't see it all at night. I was hoping the backlight wasn't integrated into the LCD screen but alas, seems it is...
So how replacable is the LCD, assuming a) Junk doesn't move this to the classifieds section first and b) one could get an old unit with a servicable LCD?

1972. I think any 40 drum axle will work.
I rebuilt two of them and they leaked like a sieve. The internal cylinders are completely pitted from sitting for 25 years.

Rob, I've got a full rear drum brake set up off a 79FJ40 - I did the rear disc brake conversion but I kept everything - including the backer plates for the drums. They weren't leaking when I took them off but that was about 2 years ago. Not even sure if a 79 would fit on an earlier model truck. I'd like to get ride of everything as a package deal but the shipping will be pretty stiff as the box is darn heavy. Let me know if you are interested. Tom

I just got a used radio from a fellow MUD'er, but the LCD on that one is burned out as well. I'm guessing it is common with these radios (They put the "sh_t" in Matsushita).
If you're really bored, take the radio out and have a look. Getting the radio out is 100x harder than getting the faceplate off - that's a 20 second job. The LCD screens have a metal cover around them. Short of unsoldering the LCD from the board, or prying up the metal cover, I'm not sure how the innards would be accessible. Of course, then you'd have to find a working donor....
