If I were to call with questions...

(which I won't because I'm not a serious buyer and don't want to waste his time)

I would ask:

Did the dash have to be "split and sectioned" to fit the width of the 60...if so, where did you split it?

What does it look like where the dash meets the lower inside of the windshield?

How were the seats bolted down?

How were the seat belts bolted down?

What does the gap between the end cap of the dash and the kicker panel look like?

How far does the front bumper end cap extend beyond the front fender?

Do the airbags still work?

Do all the stock vents on the dash blow when the heater is activated?

Does the defrost work properly?

Have all the switches been crossed over? Wipers?, Rear wipers? Rear defrost? etc.

But the most concerning thing looks to be the rear axle placement in correlation to the wheel well....it looks like the whole tire/axle is too far back as it relates to the wheel well opening. It would simply take shorter rear LCA's and adjustable uppers to solve that, yet it wasn't done...

If that rear tire is stuffed, it's going to move it's position even further back and will probably rub.

If he didn't adjust something so obvious, what else wasn't addressed.

It's intriguing, but what concessions were made to call it done?

And, of course, why the defensive nature about discussing the price? Probably because he wants to have an opportunity to justify a number that is going to sound out of hand to the casual observer. I'm sure he's convinced himself that it's worth 70-80% of a Jonathan Ward (TLC4x4/ICON) FJ142 (FJ62 + FZJ80) and while I don't know the price of THAT, it has to be around 85K to 100K.

To quote: "...If your first question is how much I am asking, then this might not be the vehicle for you."

Price is going to have to come into the equation at some point, why ward people off asking right out of the gates, while simultaneously setting the precedence that you are defensive about discussing it?

It sounds like your a little more versed in the subject than I am and have though about it a fair amount. I just thought I was a cool idea, if it was done right it would make one heck of a head turner thats for sure. But if i were to do it i would want the FJ80 suspension, locking axles etc and the 1HZ with a H55 behind it. While keeping the interior of the 60 looking stock. But thats my dream... and if I win the lottery.

I have thought about it a lot. - (Lottery win fantasy as well)

I have owned 2 60's and an fzj80 and wheeled both at CruiseMoab
The 80 was hands down the better wheeling rig due to the coil/solid axle set-up
and due to the automatic transmission. Way more capability and way less effort
allowing me to enjoy the experience and the surroundings to a much larger degree.

If I were to build one, I would go with a supercharged 1fz-fe and the A343F auto tranny
and either factory lockers or ARB's wired to the stock "magic dial"

I would also go with the older interior but better seats.

Here's what Jonathan Ward does...he installs C.A.R.B. approved crate V-8's. I think he does this
to alleviate registration/title/emission issues in California, where his shop resides. (and lots of horsepower)

ACC - (Atlanta Custom Creations) is currently building an fzj55 (Supercharged 1fz-fe and 80 series frame/suspension and power train with an fj55 body) as well.

I think it is great and looks like a real nice truck. Although his tire and wheel comb blows IMHO. He probably wants way to much but it looks like a great truck to me. I also kind of like the dash swapped in, it makes the truck different. I once viewed a TLC 60 at their shop that had the 80-series interior and dash swapped in it. It looked good and was well done. Now if I am building it myself, I am keeping the older dash and interior, I just like it a touch more due to the character/class/retro-ness of it.
