I'm looking for a 60 or 62, 4.0l diesel, manual with about 100,000 - 130,000 miles on the clock. Here in the UK there are a few around priced between $1000-5,000. I don't think the US had the diesel but any ideas on engine longevity? What are the main problems to look out for (not just engine related) with this model?

I appreciate this topic comes up again and again but I would be grateful if you could help out. I have owned an 80 and a 70 series in the past but know nothing about 60's.

Thanks, Jim

Re:FJ60 | FJ62

My '60's have the 3.4L 3B engine. The '82 has 365,000 kM and the '84 is just shy of 400,000 kM. Main problem on this side of the pond is rust, especially the rear portion of the frame. A well maintained 3B will easily exceed 400,000 or 500,000 kM and usually considerably more. My '84 is getting a little tired but I don't know how it was maintained prior to my owning it. The '82 is going strong and was recently upgraded to an AXT Turbo setup.
Sorry, I have NO info on the 2H/12H-T engines. They came out later.
Diesels were only available in Canada, what a pity!!
btw, you should be asking about BJ60's ("B" series engine) or HJ60's ("H" series engine), FJ60/62 are 2F gas engines.
