I've got the spice colored console from Quatratec installed in my 60.

Here's the link to their website:

Here's a pic of the interior:

TyWebb, Your mail box is full.

That pic of the quadratec console. It looks like it fits perfectly.

What did you have to do to get it in? Any Fab? or was it bolt in? I'm hoping to pull enough money together to buy myself a christmas present. I'm hoping it is pretty easy since I lack any fab skills. Hope ya'll had a good thanks giving.

Cool Crusers Tuffy Console

Hi:

I bought this console from Cool Cruisers last month. Came with brackets/no drilling need. I mounted my CB on the side and Ham Radio on the front lid.

Here is the thread:

I don't have that exact console, but have another model by the same mfr in my 87 FJ60 (also purchased thru Quadratech). Other than drilling holes in the floor of the new console to bolt it to the factory holes, there is no fabbing whatsoever required.

The bottom of the new console is flat - as opposed to the stock console which has a plastic "skirt." So the mounting pedestals in the floorboard are more visible with the new console, but hardly an issue. In fact, if you look at the picture in TyWebb's posting, you can see the bottom of the console where the driver's seat/back meet.

The new console makes a great armrest too.

cruiserhunter- the install was relatively easy. I did kind of a hack job as far as fab work goes, but it was really easy. The original console is mounted with four bolts, the front of the quadratec console can be mounted to the original mounting holes (you might need longer bolts, can't remember). In the back you will have to make a spacer to make the console level. I used a two by twelve board, cut it to about 2 1/4 in long (I think), and trimmed the width to be in slightly less than the console. I bolted the wood to the floor of the cruiser using the original mounting holes, then used wood screws to secure the console to the wood. It's kind of a hack job, but it worked really well and you can only see the wood if you are in the back seat and look down low. The console was a huge addition to the truck for storage, cup holders, and a great armrest.

I'll clear out my mailbox so that you can pm me with any questions down the road.

Here are some pics that hopefully better describe what I was talking about. The first one shows the console itself (VDP Original Ultimate ~$60 at Qtec). The second shows how it is mounted to the rear pedestal. I have aftermarket carpet in my 60. The stock carpet exposes more of that pedestal and a bit of the floor board. I have two bolts inside the console which screw into the existing threaded holes in that rear pedestal. Right now, that is all I am using and it is fairly secure. However, I do plan to secure it with one or two more bolts to existing holes near the front of the console.

I'm not sure why my install diffrered from TyWebb's. I guess it is due to differences in the console itself.

Thank s for the info guys.

Looks Like this will be a the next toy I buy for my cruiser.

I should have enough cash in a week or tow and I'll let ya'll know how it goes. Hopefully I can take some pics and write something up.

Marc311, Is your grey? I didn't see that option on the quadratec website. I'm going to call and find out so this thing matches.

Have a good one and thanks again

Here is my custom made one. An auto upholstry shop made it. It made with wood, and is quite strong. The switches are for my seatheaters.

The seats were also made there using the stock frame.

Hmmmm?
*wondering how to fit that VDP console in a rear heater equipped 62*
