Well, I am half way. Got 2 of the 4 made locally, but they cannot make the smaller diameter 2 hoses. Any suggestions or recommendations? THANKS

For anyone currently looking.....I had the other two made at Cold Hose website. I had to do the measuring and find the fitting part numbers on their site, but it was really easy to make a custom hose. Great experience and less than 1 week turn around with the holiday weekend. They were also cheaper than the local place.

Could you share the fitting part numbers?

@Aloha Jen Certainly......This is for the two smaller diameter hoses. The others I haven't looked up. SB9321 is the #6 90 degree O-ring fitting. SB9311 is the #6 45 degree fitting. Better yet, I will post the build info sheet.

Just make sure if you use these numbers you have a 1985 and older 60. They changed the condenser connection pipe angle on 85 and later.......don't ask how I know.

Thank You for posting them numbers up. This will help in redoing my A/C on my 83.

This is great, thanks! Any chance you have this info for the other hoses from the local shop?

Amazing timing @4runner2FJ60, I'm in the middle of getting some hoses made up and was just trying to figure out if the #6 is a 9/16-18 or M14-1.5 from the expansion to dryer and dryer to condenser. From the looks of it that SB9321 is a 9/16"-18, but somewhat confusingly in the ATCO catalog it's in the Metric section?!? I'm so confused about these fitting sizes..

Anyway, looking forward to getting these hoses done..

@repentsinner Hey, It is very confusing. I think the Cold Hose site helped make it easier. At the top left of their main page, you can select "Custom Hose Builder" The process has good instructions. This is where I started, and then found the fittings. The two small fitting hoses I just got, part numbers listed, are metric. The hose itself is 5/16" hose. I cut my old one to confirm. They are calling it a #6. These fittings are M14 X 1.5.

@Aloha Jen I'll see what I can come up with on the two larger diameter hoses.

I've been digging around. I thought I had a new hose that was wrong? The hose from the compressor to the condenser OEM is 12.5 mm or 1/2" ID. My new one is 5/16. Looking on Cold Hose I found they do not have fittings for this hose in M18 size for 1/2" #10 hose. So the local place must have been the same. I just built the two hoses I already had made, on the cold hose website. Hope this helps someone. I would double check my build.

The LONG hose from firewall to compressor has M22 X 1.5 fittings they are calling a #10 the 45 degree fitting is BL9316
The short Condenser to compressor has M18 X 1.5 fittings and they call for a #6 hose. Te 45 degree is SB9313
The 90 degree is SB9323

I don't know if that short hose being smaller in diameter creates any issues performance wise? Maybe an AC guru can chime in?

Able truck in Dallas, send old hoses and they will use your old ends to make the new hoses. I’ve used them for years. Mike

The Cold Hose website is not working for me (does not load) - have they gone?

Works fine for me. Says they are closed this Friday.

Just want to say thanks very much for the earlier posts,I learned a lot from the website and can make at least two of four hoses. Thanks for sharing the breakdown of what you ordered.

I am struggling with a couple of my hoses, so I'll give a rundown. Mine is an Asian 1989 BJ60 so different hoses from the North American models but I imagine the hose thicknesses and fittings are the same.

Hose #1 - compressor high side to condenser. M18x1.5 fittings, #8 (13/32" ID, 29/32" OD)

This is a specialised fitting. What I have is the FJ62 version of this hose with a block fitting on the compressor side (as pictured in Post #15 on this thread). The hose is in decent shape but I need to change the fitting on the end to a 90º O-ring female type to suit my compressor. The problem I have is that it's a #8 hose with an M18 fitting, but Cold Hose have only #6 with the M18. I'm not so keen on the idea of different gague pipes either side of the rubber hose on the finished hose assembly.

Hose #2 - condenser to dryer. M14x1.5 fittings, #6 (5/16" ID, 3/4" OD).

This I can make on the Cold Hose website.

Hose #3 - dryer to expansion valve. M14x1.5 fittings, #6 (5/16" ID, 3/4" OD).

This I can make on the Cold Hose website.

Hose #4 - evaporator to compressor low side. M22x1.75

This hose seems to be a non-standard size. The hose has the same 29/32" outside diameter as the #8 hose, but the hard pipe inside is maybe 9/16" or 19/32". Neither this hose nor the fitting size (M22x1.75) is listed with Cold Hose.

Has anyone else run into these odd sized hoses? Sadly, no part of my Hose #4 is in no condition to be resused (galled and corroded fittings).

Thanks

EO

@Eurasiaoverland probably already thought of, but do you have any hydraulic hose places local to you? I was able to get two of my hoses made at one, but then could not use them because of the issue with the NLA early model condenser.

There are a few A/C shops here that I will need to check, but from what I've seen they love to cram in adapters and I'm certain they won't have the range of fittings which Cold Hose have. I will order #6 and #8 metric fittings from Cold Hose, put the M18 nut on the #8 hose and ask a local shop to braze that onto Hose #1 (high side compressor output).

On the suction pipe, I am starting to think that the 'M22x1.75' thread on the fittings is actually 7/8"-14 but I have no non-metric tools with which to check. That fits with a #10 fitting to #12 (5/8" ID hose) listed on the site. I can't match the 29/32" OD original hose, but a 61/64" reduced barrier hose should be close enough to re-use the original clamps. If the thread size is correct, this means I can make 3/4 hoses with Cold Hose.

I just replaced my suction hose with one made locally here in Seattle (Nebar hose and fittings) the suction hose on my 2/1987 Fj60 with a NEW Denso evaporator (476-0072) are 7/8 -14 fittings. I see both standard and metric numbers being thrown around but this was my experience.
