socallove - let me know when you drop it in the mail so I can make sure my old lady is here to receive it.

I'm shipping one to France this week, I'm not familiar with the customs paper works but working it out. Shipping is expensive though $95-$120

Given, what I've experienced with French customs so far it's normally 30% of the unit value.

Bit too much at the moment, I've got a lot to pay out right now.
But thanks anyway.

The buyer requested that i put the value at $150, I dind't know why at first but realized it was for tax purposes.
I can put whatever you request, i think the down fall is they won't cover it if it gets damaged some how.

Mine arrived yesterday to France. We put the value for customs at 150 USD so I paid only 58 Euro customs. The postman collects the customs fees on delivery, no hassle at all.

I started mine and will be cutting into the trailgate in the next few days.
Im debating if the hinge should be bolted between the lid frame and tailgate or be bolted under the tailgate body..

either way you need to place/use washers as spacers under the hinge, or under the perimeter of the new frame...
To make it all look flush

Second pic shows the cutting line..!!

I'm in for 1

I just had mine show up today. it looks really good. for anyone out there who has installed one or is going to be installing one what are you using for coating? just paint or other ideas? I want something that has some texture so it's not slippery when standing on it to put stuff on the roof rack. also needs to be able to stand up to traffic (dogs and kids) going in and out.

I plan to PC mine with texture,,but i need to finish the install first.....

The install was super easy. I picked up some rubber edge stripping from the local auto store and end up getting it PC'd by a fab shop here same day. Whole install took about an hour (30 minutes worth of work and the other 30 sipping a cold brew - it was too pretty of a day not to) Here's a pic of it installed. I have a few of it getting done that my wife took but were traveling right now so when I get home I'll throw some up.

I ended up mounting the hunger between the frame and the tailgate body. It flushed up pretty well IMHO.

I received mine right away and the quality is top notch!

Got it installed and two things I observed:

1). the quality of the door is very good. My only gripe is that the fasteners that are included could/should definately be upgraded as several stripped out (which is an easy fix of course).

2). the experience of dealing with SoCalLove the vendor, has been first rate! He responds quickly and ships out as fast as possible.

The part was well wrapped and the whole thing makes me think quality!

If you are looking for tailgate storage for your FJ this is your best bet.

Cheers!

I worked I this a couple of hours today....
Had a few bolts holding the frame. Three bolts have me some grief, but the last bolt wouldn't/didn't budge
It did not strip the fuel head, but the treads on them bolts definitely suck...

My Allen key with a nice twist to it.. LoL

If the hardware is stainless steel, it is likely galling when the nut and screw are tightened.

Try some lube on the nut and screws. This will help with the galling, and help with a corrosion that can develope when SS and aluminum come in direct contact.

Nice product.

@doug720 thanks for that info...
I did not know...
This I'd going out to the be PC'ed...
That should help things..!!
