First off, many thanks to you for contributing to the FJ60 aftermarket. I love to see sweet, quality options for our rigs. One question, does the overall assembly exhibit lower strength/rigidity than the factory tailgate? A large percentage of presumably structural steel is removed to allow install. I saw that you indicated that you had a beefy friend sitting on it, was that in the installed configuration? How rigid is the assembly off the vehicle? Im curious based on the selection of aluminum as frame material. Looks sweet. Thanks again.

The 80 series had corrugated sheet metal left over when cut so it strengthen the lid quite a bit.
I did put my weight on the 60 series yesterday, I'm 170# and it is holding up just fine. I will have to wait until the tailgate is on the truck so I can have two people sit on it, I think it will do fine.

I like this storage lid, it looks great. I made my tailgate into a storage compartment already, or I'd be in line for one.

Just a suggestion here - Mine has 2 separate opening lids with a panel section left in the center. This center panel really helps with keeping the tailgate still. Maybe a section of tail gate panel could remain in the center to tie and stiffen the whole tailgate and lid.

Again, nice idea and execution.

Im curious about this as well...
Guess one could leave more material along the edges if need be ?
Or as suggested by Doug 720...
My storage will be used mainly for tools, spare parts, and some recovery gear...
So i know I don't need a big hole to fit items in there....
Going to PC mine...

I've got one of Kevin's Wagongear hatches in my 60 and it is great. Though it took me a while to figure out what to put in there. It gets pretty heavy with the stuff I want easy access to when the back is full of other gear. I hope you sell a bunch as it is terrific to have aftermarket accessories for our old and well broken in FJ60's.

Frank - I think he's in Westminster. I won't be able to pick up until March 18. I can get yours then if you can't sooner. If you can pick mine up, I'll buy you a case of your favorite beer.

Seth no worries eh....!!
I'll pick it up.. and drop it off at your place...
Im at Waterworks Aquatics in SM weekly...
You are just around the corner from there right ?
PM you addy...
@socallove let me know when I can pick up.. no rush..
I'll need addy as well..

Thanks for setting this up..!!

Hey guys, I finished the fits batch, they are ready to ship coming week.

I'm considering making one that opens out and lay flat for more "counter space"
Anyone interested in that option?

I'd be interested in mine being that option. I know mine was in this batch but I can wait another couple weeks if need be bro.

Same as above. I would be interested in that style as well. If it's possible.

The shop is currently swamped, we have a big SoCal Edison sign came in that will take a month to finish.
The reversed hinge was just a thought, I haven't done any R&D on it at all. It looks like it will have to go on the back burner for awhile.
As for this batch, I finished and packaged everything ready to ship, I'm not sure if you guys would want to wait around over a month. On the other have two lids sitting around :(
