Here is my 1975 FJ55. I bought here from Ballarat here in Aus and it was originally used by the SES in Vistoria. It has extremely little rust. It is a slow project and I just want to get here to a decent condition - not immaculate, but presentable and neat.

Mods so far;
Replaced the Sunraysias and 31" tyres for 16" split rims and 7.60R16 tyres
Raised springs - mix of 60 series OME springs in the front and custom packs in the rear.
Belton greaseable shackles, pins and bushes
Bilstein shocks all around
Twin thermo fans

Future Mods;
Power steering - halfway through this now
Remove LPG and make it petrol only (requires new petrol tank)
Disk brakes - have half the equipment for this.
Remove PTO winch and ugly bull bar
Paint respray

my pig

G'day everyone. I thought its time i put up my 55 project. Ive inherited this 74' 55 series from my grandfather, is been around australia 3 times so far in its life, is pretty much standard with a 8000lb Thomas winch and full length roof rack. Not much rust, as the doors got the old sump oil treatment many times but chassy needs blasting as its been on the beach quite a bit. The 60 series is my spare parts cover, it has a 2006 5ltr mustang V8 with 5 spd, powersteer and AC which ill be transfering across.
I would love to put it on top of its springs but we will see what the engineer says about that.

After long reserch on this site Im planing to put every thing on even the front and rear axles. if the spring over lifts it 6 inches at least it will be 3 inches wider. Ill get some tractor slasher drive shafts to handle the anges and put on hi steer. still cant help think swapping bodies would be easier but alot of fellas have said the 55's chassis is more robust. finish it off whith a set of 16in high 10 wide cromies with 35 in tires.

mmmmm, still a long way to go.....

1972 FJ5524384 Current status deceased, I still have the carcass.
Was a 307 Chevy/3 speed/2 barrel carb.
I used it as a daily driver when I purchased it in 1985, while mud racing it I rolled it. It then became my budget racer. Manifolds were inverted with both exhausting out the right side of the hood, air intake routed into the interior which had been gutted and a roll bar installed.
This is the last photo while alive.I was overly aggressive :whoops:(translation: STUPID) when jumping up out of a dry pond. It was approx 12ft in the air. FJ55s don't like landings. RF & LR tires blew, RF spring and front output on trans case broke, front driveshaft went thru the oil pan. The seat buckled the floor, the roll bar bent the roof. However the photo did make it into Four Wheeler Mag Ugly Truck Contest.
The 55 was then used as a flagpole base for several years at our mud race track. Muddy Run Raceway
