Hi all,
My 1974 FJ45 pickup is in need of new side mirrors. The originals are bent and one mirror head is missing. I can rarely see anything in them when I need to.

Here's a pic of the current setup:

I haven't found a source for the original style of mirror and was wondering if you guys had any recommendations. The style below looks like a better mirror but would require new holes and nutserts in the door skin I assume - not sure I want to do that.

Any ideas?

J**P Dangler mirrors are excellent; very little vibration, large and fold in when you hit something like a tree. They are also fairly cheap ($99 for a pair of new ones in the US - plus another $50 or so to ship them down here to the Nanny State). Unfortunately, you still have to drill holes for them to mount.

Toyota still have them part number 87901-55011 (convex )
you can see a lot, bought them two years ago but you would need new arms (don`t fit yours)

This picture is the correct setup for mirrors in The US for the 68 thru 76 models. The other style didn't start until the 77 model here. I think those were stock. Not the best setup but stock. The bend is also stock.

Why not use the mirrors off a HJ75 HZJ75 HZJ79 or petrol similar. I converted my hj47 to one of these and i reckon they're alot better. Its not that bad to drill holes as you wont see the holes just the bolts ;) . Just mark one of the holes for the bracket, drill it then bolt the bracket on with one bolt. Then drill the other hole through the hole in the bracket, bolt it and its done.

cool cruisers of texas has a nice pair that mount under the screws of your windshield hinges. they come in stainless steel or black i think. they fold down with the windshield and can retract and extend in length. they are pretty good mirrors, definatly not junk. plus you dont need to drill any holes.
