hello.
I am in process of rebuilding a 45 with very limited resources
I have taken of cab and stripped to chasiss.
I really need help to clarify if the cab bolts that hold body to chassis should be taken out of cab. i had to chisel, torch of the two front bolts, but the two back bolts remain in situ.
i will obviously need to replace front bolts but not sure how!
Should i not have cut them out? and does anyone know the bolt sizes to replace them with?

many thx
Rob:)

On my truck those are all completely removable bolts - not sure why you are having to torch them off (?) Are they rusted solid? If you have to torch them off then it is straightforward enough to find long replacement metric bolts I would think. Might be able to obtain them from Toyota even, and I'm sure at least some of the aftermarket body mount bushing kits contain bolts as well, no?

Bolts are likely rusted as stated by HJ47th , fine thread 4'' bolts will do. get a hammer and pund the bolts through. New bolts drop into place from inside the cab front. Check the integrity of the metal in the body mount on the frame and on the cab.
I have used hockey pucks in the past and reused original bushings in a pinch. If you don't mind a few $ then order some bushings, use anti seize on the threads also.
Got some pics ?
Cheers

thx guys.
Alberta mac you mention that bolts drop into place from cab (i assume you mean front of cab)
On mine its a sealed body and no holes to drop bolts through!! it would appear that the front bolts come up from underneath and screw into a washer type nut that sits in the body mount on the body.
What i have had to do is cut a hole through the floor well and weld a nut in place and then replate.
ggggrrrrr most of issues im having is not having the right access to tools etc and equipment.
slowly but surely it will be rebuilt. thx again

henry James, thx reply.
its the original floor first time body off etc
mine is a 1974, right hand drive-
i cant explain it, but doesnt matter now as i have welded a nut in place.

i will chk out your build

thx again

I agree with hj47, post up some pics !
Yes front of cab, just below dash near door sil. usually a plastic plug covers it for purposes of the use of a garden hose to clean the inside floor.
It may be possible that the PO welded a nut in a channel and screwed a bolt into the body, the channel being welded to the underside of floor.
Pictures are worth a thousand guesses ! lol

Hey. I know the hole you are talking , but it its not in line with body mount hole!! I have an fj40 and its exactly the same at the front cab.

I think your looking at the wrong hole. The hole you are looking for is right were the floor pan has the sharp 45 degree bend to join the firewall. It is directly next to the door pillar. Yours might be gone or never had one. :meh: You can see two of them below.
