Good luck in the search Brad!! While I've never met you, I'm very familiar with Pappy (your old truck) so here's to hoping you find a truck that fills the void

Thanks Johnny, I have found something...well, for my wife :D (I may have influenced a bit, but she loves it), given that it's her ride, it will be a slow build that may require some sneaky additions on my part.

I'll post up a couple of pics in a few days...Some know that I went to the dark side about a year ago and bought a Unlimited JK Rubicon...I like it, but I've been a Toyota guy a long time and frankly its not a cruiser...so luckily I'll have the best of both worlds soon if all goes well.

I'm looking for a few stock parts for my project:

Front bumper
Rear bumperettes
Tranny tunnel
Hub cap wheels
Front bucket seats

Also, do any of you run 33x10.50 tires on stock wheels? How much lift was needed to fit properly? Pics?

I'm ordering a front bumper online for $158 shipped - www.toyotaonlineparts.com - p/n 52111-60030

Ordered new wheels from them too - wheel : 42601-60072 and hubcap : 42621-60010-86 and 42621-60020-86 - $490 shipped for a set of four

CCOT has bolts for $25
CCOT also has aftermarket bumperettes for $75 (including bolts) or Toyota ones for $48 each (+$16 for bolt kit).

I can get you pictures of 33x10.50 BFG KO2s on the stock wheels later this week. I have ~2" suspension lift and 2" body lift. The body lift will be going away soon.

Rice and rices old rig now in care of FJintegacay are both on 33x10.5's
NCnole is also on 33x10.5 i believe as well now after the spring swap 4>2.5

the rice rocket (yellow hardtop) is on 2.5'' springs i believe and ole red is just utilizing shackles I believe
the 2.5'' spring set and 33x10.5 is hard look to beat. improved stock look. And concretejungle has the 2.5" springs and 33/10.5 on the late model topless yellow rig as well.

The pic of davids freeborn 77 may ne with no lift at all, only front shackles it seems. Maybe he could clarify @FJinTegaCay

I'm actually running 33x9.50's (aka pizza cutters) with no lift and stock shackles all around. If the rear wheel wells are uncut, I believe you need a 2" lift to run 33x10.50's.

Found the p/n for the bumperettes - 52152-60011 & 52153-60011 - $32 each

Front bumper and bumperettes are $199 + $30 shipping.

Or, you should go through one of our supporting vendors like @beno, Fred Anderson Toyota, Scott Clark, etc for parts still available via Toyota. Prices are very similar if not better.

Jason pretty much said it all. I did pull 2 leafs from the front spring pack but also dropped ~300 pounds with the motor swap.

Sorry .... not on stock wheels.

Those were the good ole days! I sold my last two FJ40s (the green one and a stock '71) along with my parts stash back in 2008 when I was building my house. I've always had an FJ40 themed rock crawler since then though.

Ah yeah the parts stash. I probably still have half of it. Just cant let things go.

Thanks for the pics!

I found a '74 FJ40 parts rig, it has a lot of the stuff I was looking for. I could still use a nice stock front bumper and bucket seats if they're in good condition.

Also, I'll have some of the leftover parts for sale if anyone needs anything. Will post a list later.

I'm meeting him tomorrow to check on some items.
I sent him a note asking about a steering wheel... if you're going there, can you check and see about:

Steering wheel
Sun visors
turn signals (has to be period correct '69 - round ones)

Thanks!

Shoot me a PM with your number. I'll get pictures and let you know about them.

Update on my project.

I went to buy a solid pair of late model front doors from a guy with several FJ40s a few months back. The doors weren't as solid as I hoped they were, but I did pick up a '73 FJ40 project while I was there. I didn't need another project, but it was too good to turn down. It's an FST model and is the factory pumpkin orange color. It has some rust, but nothing terrible. The tailgate has the worst of the rust. The top was missing, but other than that, it's complete down to the factory radio.

I have swapped in rebuilt '79 axles with disc brakes front and rear and new BFGs on factory white spoke wheels. I'm also going to swap in a 2F and 4-speed. Planning to leave the body as is and drive it while I slowly restore the '78 FJ40 that was my original project. And I'm still looking for solid front doors if anyone knows of any...

Don't worry, the bezel will be corrected soon!
