We have a 1977 fj40 and just rebuilt the carb. What is a good way to test the vacuum system? And what should I buy to test the vacuum system so I can get the correct readings when tuning the carb?

There are spots on the intake manifold for emissions that can accommodate a vac gauge tube. Usually the barbs just in front of the carb will work, but, there is a barb for fuel vapor as well.

Thank you! And where is the spot to plug it in?
There is a nifty little fitting that screws into the intake manifold. It has an easily accessible vacuum port that makes it really convenient to temporarily hook up a vacuum gauge. When not i n use, the unused vacuum port remains capped.

…or to hook up an in-cab , dash mounted gauge that also serves as an economizer. 😉
