Hey all -

Another really easy question (maybe) but I can't find the answer by searching.

What size and thread pitch are the bolts for the tow hooks on the front of an FJ40 frame? They seem larger than a standard M12, and seem to have a 2.0 thread pitch, but I had an M14x2.0 bolt laying around, and it's definitely too large (won't fit through the frame or the hook).

M13 doesn't exist, but the diameter of the un-threaded shoulder portion of the bolt I pulled out measures about 12.5mm in diameter (even after sanding down the rust), Typical M12 bolts are fractionally under 12mm (ie: 11.85mm).

Are these a special type of bolt? I'd prefer not to re-use mine as they're pretty badly rusted. I assume grade 10.9 strength here.

Odd, it really seems like it has a wider shoulder than a standard 12mm bolt but there's nothing to indicate that on the parts list!

Funny that you linked to Conicecelli - I'm about an hour from Conshohoken, PA and hear their ads on the radio all the time.

Just to be clear, I wasn't 'promoting' Conicecelli Toyota, it's just that their website seems to have the most accurate list of parts that are really available.

There's nothing worse than finding a part number, searching for it on a Toyota parts site that shows it still available, but when ordered you find out it's "NLA".

Ha no worries, I just thought it was funny that a guy from up in MA happened to pick a provider right near me of all the Toyota vendors online.

I've found that www.toyotapartsdeal.com is accurate w.r.t. availability, and includes the part numbers the current part has superceded, if applicable.
