Problem is you need a way to control volume. Ipod only controls volume out the headphone and most amps don't control volume. I have seen a voluve control that goes between this cable and the amp though.

I bought an amp with volume control of Ebay. I put it in the glovebox and ran speaker wires through looms and through the frame. I have a wire that hooks to my MP3. Simple and cheap.

volume

The link in my last post has a volume control .
and for those mp3's that arent created equal. A 7 band EQualizer
I run an 1/8" mini stereo to RCA cable from Ipod to Eq
turn the volume on the ipod to 3/4 and use control on the Eq.
its always in the same place and is analog so its instant

Yeah, thats an option but I don't want to have to spend $150 if I can help it! If you can control the volume from the IPOD then that will be good enough.

My setup? I just set it in the back. It's got carrying handles on the sides, so I can use it in my apartment at college, at home in the pole barn, in my truck, etc. I designed it to be portable and powerful. I have a car alarm battery that supplies the constant power like in an actual car, keeping my settings along with about 4 hours of power at full bore. A rectifier generates the 12V DC to run it by plugging it into the wall, and a cigarette lighter plug too. Green switch is like the ignition switch on the car, and the voltmeter lights up! Other power includes a plug for the back of the Land Cruiser for aux power, and clamps for a car battery. Receiver is WMA/MP3 capable and includes an aux input for iPod and computer. Overall, I'm very happy with it, and it's a great conversation piece. If anyone wants plans I have both JPG pictures with dimensions and my AutoCAD files.
