I'm back! Been a while with work travel, vacation and 4Runner cat issue (think I need a front O2 sensor to close that one out).

Anyways... Powder coat is done ($350 which I can't decide is high / low) on all seat parts including all seat brackets.

Tonight messed around with foam patching a bit. I think once I get it all compressed down it should be fine.

Question: should I wrap the foam in some type of garbage bag before putting the seat cover over it? The oem had a thin layer of plastic around them. I can't imagine it making a huge difference but I guess it would keep a little bit of the moisture off the foam. Thoughts?

Will hopefully be getting a few bottom cushions done on Saturday.

I'm tracking nicely on the seats (slowly but surely). I do have a question about the seat rails and a few spots where there is a nut welded on. See the photo just above the white dash. What attaches there? There also seems to be one on the back area of the driver side.

For clarity the pic is the passenger side in the front part of the seat that faces the driver side seat (hopefully that makes sense)

Fantastic work!

Crazy enough I sanded, cleaned, primed and painted the back plates using cruiser corps matching paint and then clear coated. Surprisingly enough they didn't turn out good (bad color consistency and rough in texture).

Not sure what I'm going to do now. I really want the smooth shiny grey look like original.

I'm somewhat over it for now and plan on just getting the seats installed and dealing with the color match of the back plate later on.

Any ideas on the welded nut on the seat rails? I'm stumped on what the purpose is (see pic in above post).

I had nothing in that welded nut before I put in my Corbeau's - can't see anything bolted there in the parts diagram.

Yea I've look at other pictures and diagrams and I'm coming up with no ideas of what the purpose is.

Went to Wilders today and picked up the last remaining hardware needed to mount the seats to the tub.

Hopefully everything fits snug and no issues.

I'm getting closer and have a few questions (hope I'm not being annoying).

To first set the stage check out what I'm ripping out from PO crap install.

First question: should I be concerned with this raised area / plate on the floor? In the pic right above the red line is what I'm referring to.

I'm pretty sure this is a CCOT tub from the PO.

Second question: what caused this gap between the back of the seat and the bucket? Normal or is some thing wrong that I should worry about?

Everything seems tight and aligned, but obviously something looks a little off.

Third question: is this gap between the bottom seat frame and the upper normal? The same area on the other side is nice and snug. The seats are functioning great, but this gap looks a little odd to me.

Any thoughts?

Promise last post... Here is the status as of last night (all brackets attached to make sure everything is lining up). Hopefully rip out if old crap will go smooth and the new stuff will fit into place properly.

RE: the gaps... Maybe DS and PS uppers and lowers got swapped? Or perhaps the lower foam got squished out of whack and hasn't fully uncompressed due to the insertion method (did you wrap it in plastic first?)? Just unlicensed guesses here.

IRRC that nut is for a different style of seat belts. A shorter one on a cable.

A friend of mine used to use them, he liked them more.

I'll see if he remembers.

This sucks trying to get this metal rail that was welded on by PO.

Any ideas besides taking a grinder to it? Hate the idea of that since so close to gas tank.
