I have owned this landcruiser for about two years, and I have enjoyed working on it just as much as playing with it, if not more. I am an experienced fabricator and overall car guy, I have had many projects and this is one of them. All the work that I have done on it is off the outmost quality using the best parts available. Every mod that I’ve done has been meticulously researched to ensure reliability, function, and ease of maintenance in mind.

I am asking $11,000, which is a very fair price once you consider the details below. Compared to other FJ40s up for sale with similar specs, this one stands out well above.

Engine/Drivetrain:

- Completely rebuilt Chevy 350 done by Viking custom works, who is a well-known engine builder in the area. Newer Vortec heads were used, RV cam, and bored .030, all other components replaced during rebuild, $2300 cost

- AFI EFI system which is basically a stock TBI injection that came on most 90s chevy’s, this is better then other aftermarket EFI systems, since parts can be bought at your local parts store. All components have been rebuilt or replaced within the last 1000 miles(MAP,TPS, throttle body, injectors, etc). Engine runs extremely smooth and consistent, compared to a carb setup.

- Ron Davis aluminum radiator with ford Taurus fan and 2 stage temp controller, keeps engine nice and cool

- Mated to a 4speed H42 landcruiser transmission found in later FJ40s, I retained the original vacuum shift 3 speed transfer case in order to keep the actuator on the dash as I think that’s a really cool feature you don’t see anymore.

- Trans and transfer case was completely rebuilt by Marks Offroad in Burbank, who is a very well-known landcruiser mechanic, all parts used were OEM, $2000 cost

- Advanced adapter was use to mate engine and trans as well as motor mounts and trans cross member. All fab work is top notch.

- Disc brakes on all 4 wheels, works great.

- Auxiliary fuel tank, with transfer pump into main tank

- Used a double cardan drive shaft out of an FJ60 for the rear in order to get the correct driveline angles and eliminate any vibrations

- GM 1 Wire alternator

- Diahard AGM battery

- Tires are 31x10.5 Roadian MT’s, 85% and spare is brand new.

Steering:

- Converted to power steering using cruiser outfitters kit and a reman Saginaw box. This is not hack conversion that you often see, all joints, mounts, and plumbing is well thought out with safety in mind.

Body/interior

- The car has been in a CA car its whole life so virtually NO RUST, except the usual surface rust, all panels are original with no cheap reproduction replacements.

- The body has been repainted at some point, well before me. Body definitely shows signs of use over the last 50+ years, a few scratches and dings, nothing that a body shop can’t easily fix, I think it adds to the overall look and character.

- Interior is pretty much original except for the seats, I am 6’3 and could not fit with the stock bench seat, so I fabbed a custom seat frame and installed some bucket seats out of a Nissan, very comfortable especially for long trips.

- The stock roof was completely rebuilt and re-painted. The rain gutter which is notorious for rusting out, has been cleaned up and re-sealed to last another 50 years.

- Replaced some of the weather stripping as well.

Electrical:

- Those that know these cars, are aware of the electrical gremlins, especially when a conversion isn’t done correctly. I have gone through all the electrical, salvaged the stock wiring as much as I could so a stock diagram can be used for trouble shooting.

- Installed auxiliary fuse panels, relays, and switches to ensure safe operation.

- All lights, and even the horn works as it should.

I’ve probably forgotten some other details, feel free to ask.
