Hi everybody. I live in Charlotte,NC. I'm currently looking for an FJ40 for my first car. Ever since I saw my first one, I've been obsessed with getting one. I know they are alot older than other cars so I can expect more problems out of it, but I'm ready for it. My parents have said my maximum price cap is 9,000. I'm trying to find one that has the ambulance doors and one that isn't a complete rust bucket. I figured that all of ya'll experienced guys can help me out a little and give me some much needed help and advice on finding one, because I'm not having much luck. Thanks for taking the time to help me out!

I've been watching the 2nd one ( Lexington SC ) and talked to the guy. He was sure he had it sold couple weeks ago but couple days ago he emailed me and said he would take 3800. If budget is 9k, you have plenty of room to buy and even if you don't / can't do the work req, have someone else do. Good Luck.

Still looking... Trying to be patient. Still looking for some much needed advice on 40's in general. Also trying to find one thats gonna be my daily driver and one that's not a complete rust bucket.

I accidentally deleted your pm. Could you send me another one? Sorry! It would'nt let me recieve an incoming message until i deleted some cause I had like 5 which was the limit.
I went ot look at the one in Lexington. Fist sized hole int he block. Cam is sitting down in the oil pan. It is a lot rustier than the pics show. Rear floor at the barn doors is rusted completely through. bondo slathered over fist sized rust hole in driver side sill. Transfer case missing linkages. The seller never shows pics of passenger side for a reason...door, front fender and front cowl area smashed pretty good. He's down to $3700. I offered him $1,500 but he passed. I'm actually glad he did. I didn't want it. Too much work. Like the OP, I too am in Charlotte and on the hunt for a decent Forty in this area. Let us know if you guys know of any that are available.

Any new leads?
There is a guy here in Columbia sc that has a beige 76. I went and looked at it and took some pictures. He is asking 6000. I offered 3000 and he said he would chew on it. If you would like I could send you the pix? Runs good, and not rusted out that I could see. Few spots need attn. don't know if this will work, but gonna try attaching few pix below.
His name is Danny. 803-920-8758 nice guy, lives out by lake Monticello, past VC summers. Spoke to him bout a week ago and was still available , but he had a guy coming to look. Being I was first in line he wanted to give me first chance at offer.
