Hi all, I'm in Sydney Australia and just bought an Fj40 after owning one 15 years ago - proabably a mid-life crisis! Here in Sydney we don't need the heater much and mine is stuck open - the baffle blade has detached and I'm not sure how it is connected to the shaft. Has anyone re-built one of these? None of the manuals has a photo or diagram.

These are hard to get in Oz (right hand drive) so a re-build is my only current option.

 Graham

Some are a little different, depending on the year. When's yours from?

Depending on the year they are different, but for the short term if it is cookin' ya, just undo the hoses on the valve on the firewall and connect them together, this will bypass the heater altogether until you come up with a better fix. I've done that on many vehicles when the heater core goes out and leaks on ya.

I had the same trouble with the heater in my 45s i just put a ball valve into the hose under the dash. no water = no heat

Thanks everyone for the info. There are a couple of good thoughts there - but I'm also trying to work out how the baffle plate inside the heater is usually attached to the lever arm?

Thanks Again - Graham:D
