Yay wondering what the differences are and can they be made to work?

You running a stock 45 gas tank?

the seat will work...the Passengers frame is different

Driver seat has different base. In the FJ40 it attaches to the top of the tool box. In the FJ45LP and FJ45LP-P it has a frame work to attach to. The earlier FJ45 fixed hard top has a tool box so it should just bolt right in. The FJ40 pasenger's seat is probably the easiest seat that you will be able to adapt to fit.

I took a 60/40 from a fj40 ,1976 i think. And the gas tank is from a fj40 .Modified the filler tube beteween the tank and the filler neck. Work great . If you need i can post pic of the final result.

Thanks everyone, my 45 is missing a lot and trying to piece it together. Dont have a stock tank but have a 40 tank I was going to try. If you would please post the pix of the 40 tank and seat in the 45 and any real mods you had to do to get it to fit..

Is that a original steel cab? Curious I don't believe my tank sits that far back. It would be close to the front legs like in a FJ40. The difference in the tank isn't that great and where your is located wouldn't work with just the stock filler hose. As for the back legs I believe you could just extend the back out to fit on the raised section in the back like the stock FJ45LP-B.

Did the FJ40 get a bench seat in Canada in 76? Here in the US starting with the 73 model we got bucket seats and with the bucket seats came a change in the fuel tank. One of the major changes was in the fuel neck. The pre 73 was pretty close to the FJ45 tank. 71 and 72 had extra emission fitting on the tank. 70 and early only had the fill neck and vent tube next to it on the top.

I have only seen that seat in 71s and 72s. In 73 with the bucket seats the emission tank that was in the center section moved to the right side of the tub by the fuel fill neck. I have seen the back cab of FJ45 from Australia that was formed to fit the tank against the back of the cab.

Living in the Past ...... you are right !

Ok ,so my seat are from : 9/71 - 9/72 fj40

And my tank is a : 9/73 - 12/78 fj40

This is base on SOR

Hope this will help.
But you can fit whatever you want as long as it fit with you in it .

Thanks a lot.. I can make that work, just wanted to make sure before I bought the seats..

Has anyone placed aftermarket bucket seats in an fj45?

The front to back depth becomes a big challenge. It needs to be a relatively short seat front to back. I had a pair of bmw convertibles to try but were just too big. The convertible donor options are nice because they usually have the seat belt built into the seat.

I cant find it but there was a thread or post at one point documenting master craft mini or child buckets in a 45. Not sure if they still make the seat looking at their site.

Shoot the RZR seats may be closer fit lol

Interesting time for this thread to pop back up. I spent Sunday trying to work on a clean install of a 40 seat in the 45 and clear the tank and the hardtop.
If I were to do buckets they would most likely be suspension seats of some sort.
