We were at the local Toyota dealer buying a daily driver and saw both fj40 and fj45 in the showroom.

Here's a pic

Sales guy saw uslooking it over and said it was restored in Japan, bla bla bla. He'll sell it for 75,000 bla bla bla. My mom (who's in her 70's) says, "it doesn't even have the wench!" She went on to mention the roof will leak.
The paint was super cheap, like Earl Shibe cheap.
Anyways, we thought it was pretty funny having a 72 woman school the dealer. ha ha!
:)

Well, "$" indicates dollars, not Yen, Japanese currency ... LOL. Looks pretty nice in the photos except the mirrors are the wrong color, the hood latches are the wrong color, the top is the wrong color, etc. "Restored in Japan" ... I think I smell BS! Is that Norwalk, CT?

That's ok, a Toyota dealership here close has a 1972 FJ40 that they advertise being in excellent condition, and also advertise it as a "california jeep" with rust all over, dents and holes from the original spare tire carrier rusting etc... Asking $16k for it... yeah right...

i think in that year the hood latches and mirrors where painted body color ? nice looking rig .

Latches, mirrors and top all body on a early FJ45. No vent in the bottom of the windshield frame and white bib lights would make this a mid 65 to the end of the 67 model year (8/67?). windshield bumpers on the hood would have probably been the shorter style. Hub caps are for the mid 69 model year until the 8/80 FJ4X and FJ5X series. Seats covers would have been red not grey.

Where? Norwalk, CA

The paint was peeling off of the hood latches.
I believe it was a 67.
I popped the hood and it had a F135
The tires looked weird. I took a couple other pictures I'll put them up in a few minutes

im new to cruisers so i don't don't know about all the little things to look for being period correct, but it wouldn't be my choice of colors but it looks nice not 75k nice but nice. as for the japan resto highly unlikely.

Norwalks fleet mgr, Rick B. told me the Paul's (Norwalk owners) paid an arm and a leg for the rig, then spent $75,000 on the restore???
