I thought I would start the thread and get back to you in the next couple of days.

The FJ is coming up to the great white from Kali and we are doing a 3B,H55, splitcase install. We have deadlines and should wrap this little project up in 5 days.

On the list are upgrade to mini truck power steering, long range fuel tank(we will build and install).

We already have a bump in the road, the wreckers who I purchased the engine have sold the alternator and these damn things are near impossible to find.

Anyone in Canada with a 3B alternator/vacume pump would be greatly appreciated as our deadline is............ Wednesday start.

Pics to come.......

wow,

y'all all make me jealous havin the ability to get stuff done like that.

sounds nice,

Do you mind if I ask where you got the 3b drivetrain and how much it costed? I've been looking around for one for a while. Trying to decide between cummins 4bt and the 3B.

First things first, this thread should be in Cruiser tech or International as it it not hard core. Just not sure how to move it?

Customers 77 FJ40.

That support is the standard '60 series crossmember. I'm doing the same thing with the '55. They MUST be bolted in unless you enjoy changing your clutch with a cutting torch and welder!
In my opinion they are MUCH better than the AA adaptor that I was originally going to use.

Thanks, plating underway........

Took another look this morning and it sunk in about what you said.

The cross memeber works out great even if it is welded in place, just lift the tranny up two inches and back and away you go, why spend the extra money?

That is such a cool swap. I believe your customer and I may try to work a deal on his old motor if he can get it across the border. Excuse my ignorance, but how do you get manifold vacuum to hook up the brake booster?

the vacuum comes from a vacuum pump mounted on the back of the alternator. It has the effect of making the alternator a bazillion times more expensive than a petrol one.

We ended up getting good numbers off the 2F.

And there is no such thing as a dumb question, as Sam mentioned the alternator has a vacume pump off the back.

We will be coming off the vacume pump and running a line to the existing vacume canister.

The power steering is hooked up and will be running the hard and soft lines tomorrow. Long range fuel cell is in the design stages and hope to have it fabbed up this week.

Turbo coming from Oz and should see it later this week along with a intercooler if we find something at the wreckers to fit.

More pics to come.
