The main benefit of an intercooler is the denser air to the engine because it's cooler. You run the same boost but get more air into the cylinders.

What ya think of the hood latch from a 60 series as a fuel shut off for a 40 series?

We considered the choke, but could not find a cable long enough and the pull is not quite as easy to pull as the hood latch.

The guys came back Friday after being up to the North tip of Vancouver Island, they took my BJ60 and went for a tour. They fished most lakes they came across and rivers, they mentioned the lakes and rivers were the most spectacular that they had ever seen.

About two hours hours north they had called with fuel problems with my BJ, I gave them a solution that would get them home. Small jug wedged under the hood filled with diesel and run the fuel line from the injection pump direct.

It was a long 3 hours of stopping and refilling the small container, Arron the owner of the FJ40 was cavered in diesel from cracking the drain on my main fuel tank to get the fuel needed.

They are true troopers and went to very remote areas that most people who are lifers on the island have never seen.

While camping I guess they got some strange looks as they ropped thier food high up in a tree, I guess were they come from a bear will rip your vehicle open to get at the goodies. The black bears on the island while fearless have not to my knowledge peeled a vehicle open for food.

Off they went to catch a ferry and further journey North into BC for some more fishing and exploring.

They were great guys and never once made any mention of the lateness of the project and only said it will get done when its done. We worked most days 12 hrs and learned a great deal, we should cut a fair bit of time of the next install.

All in all the engine performed exellent and the turbo is top notch in installation and performance tTe long range did not get installed and I would never try to design and build another one on short notice.

So rob what do you think is a good size for the 3B .60 or so on both compressor and exhaust or would a smaller exhaust wheel be better?

Thanks

My mapping of a turbo knowlege or design is nil, basically bolt it on and run it. Seat of the pants impressions along with boost and EGTs are good indicators also.

I think the company did a good job matching up this turbo with the 3B.?

Anyways I have heard the dodge daytona turbo is a good DIY turbo, I know that my two CT26 toyota turbos will be on Ebay real quick.

Sounds good, but where are all the pictures? I'm putting a 13BT/H55f into a 40 and seeing pics would be great. Sorry, is it a setting?

The photos were lost during the web site upgrades, I have a many photos I can send to you.

Should be the most strait forward and simple installs with correct drive angles etc.

And the fact that it has two less cylinders makes for piles of room to adjust for the turbo clearance on the firewall.

Although never doing a 13BT install I could honestly say I think there should be no firwall issues. Should be lots of room to stuff a intercooler in there also, just have to move the rad back towards the engine a couple of inches.

good luck
