Is it supposed to have the roll over the top interior of the windshield as in the photos, see above the windshield wiper mech. I do not remember it like that 40 years ago. The weather-strip seems to be pushing the windshield back and away from exterior lip by about 1/4".

Trim it off?

Wrong weatherstrip? For a later vehicle?? Again.....

It seems to me there should be something between the red top of the windshield and the white over hang on the outside?? At least to minimize paint scratching and rust?

Thanks,
Scot

@Scota4570 , did you ever get any resolution to this? I am curious about the same thing on my truck as it does indeed seem to make sense there would be some rubber coming over the edge to fill that crack. Also, does anyone else have large holes on either side of their windshield cap going straight into the cab? It appears looking at CCOT's aftermarket replacements (which are out of stock, else I would have just purchased one), someone has trimmed the edges of our windshield cap, causing these large gaps.

Suggestions to fill this space?
Thanks!

Based upon their picture I'm not sure it would actually fill that space, but it would certainly make it easier! I think someone had trimmed our windshield cap for some reason? I went to order two of those pads for $7.76, but they want $21 in shipping...Not sure I can choke down almost $30 for those two little pieces, but having that link helps me visualize what is supposed to be in there. Thank you!

I'm not going to disassemble my hardtop, just yet. The plan is to stuff something sticky and squishy in there with a flat-blade screwdriver, trim accordingly, when I finally get around to it. Aside from the glass, I'm actually quite satisfied with using generic weatherstrip, particularly the kind with it's own adhesive backing. Corner-auto store, or just RockAuto. On my first 40, I had a hardtop delivered, and I used bicycle inner-tube between the hardtop side panels and the drip rail on the roof cap. I've got zero love for the correctness of the body and cosmetics on a vehicle like this.

I left the bolts loose and jimmied the various parts around until it was as good as it could be. I accepted the imperfections. As far as the holes in the top of the A-pillars, I stuffed them full of weather-strip material I trimmed off other pieces.

Someone here explained that body panel fit was poor as originally made. Just do the best you can and move on.
