saw that this morning..................too bad it's back on the market.

wonder who wrote the ad, slightly ill-informed:meh:

It's a nice little truck for someone, yep there's a lot not original with it, but if that's not important to the buyer it'll work. Will make a useful price point. :grinpimp:

Edit: OK, after reading the description, I have to say it is most certainly not the 4th Land Cruiser that Toyota manufactured ............... That aside, if anyone is considering the vehicle, and wants a candid review of what is original and not, PM one of us. I won't have any nit-picky talking here, there is plenty info available in this forum for anyone who wants to educate themselves. :censor:

Again a nice little ready to run 25 that will make someone happy, and I hope it sells for 15 mmmmmmmmmmmillion dollars.

Although I already own: (a) the nice original/unrestored dark blue 1958 FJ25 (VIN #8 FJ25 5742L, engine #F83143) I found/purchased in Atiquizaya (Ahuachapan province) with 50,000 miles on it, El Salvador in summer of 2007; plus, (b) my baby-blue 1958 split-windshield FJ25 (VIN #8-J25-6781L; engine #F88812) that's still in ElSal undergoing restoration, I'd like to have (c) this burgundy red example on E-Bay. I bid $6,100, but it has gone higher than that already. Does anyone on this board remember what it sold for last time? I have a buddy in El Salvador with a (d) forest green FJ25 that's this nice, and he's wanting to sell it. If I don't get the burgundy one on E-Bay, perhaps I'll buy the green one down in ElSal -- or perhaps I'l buy them BOTH and then own FOUR! (It's an illness, I tell you...)

Did you PM anyone here? A few of us know this 25 pretty well. I would find out as much as you can before you place another bid.

"Polarbear, none of my business, but why this 25?"

Well, it's one of the nicest ones I've seen, and looks like it could be used "as is" with little or no further restoration. Please PM me and talk me out of it, if you think it's a waste of money or way overpriced -- seriously. All sage advice MOST welcome. Thanks.

After writing a long winded PM..............I just realized that this was one that got away from me. Back in the day anything that appeared on the east coast was mine....................but my pockets were about as empty as they are right now.

so did I get a good deal ... this will be my first fj25 ... my first off road of any kind. I bought it because I just love the look.

Welcome :) Don't be a stranger, we kind of like these things too. ;)

I think it was well bought. Here's a picture from 2004.

so what can you'all tell me about it ... I would love to know it's true history

BTW how does one determine a fair price for one of these ... I could not find any simular examples anywhere

congratulations:beer:

nice 25, it's been one of the early inspiring/clean 25's

:) Then you must not have run across this sleepy little corner of the internet. ;)
Most of the history of your rig is here if you dig hard enough. Just go back to the first pages in the 25 section and start reading.

This would be the closest comparable. Good shape, not completely original. I sold it for less, but by the time Dobster got it to Australia, I'm sure he had way more into it than you. The for sale ad is in the classifieds and his later posts are here also.
