Thanks for all the info ... the rig is now at it's new home! Believe it or not, on my way home I stopped at a gas station and had a guy offer me 15K for it. I told him that I was not interested in selling it ... by it was really tempting.

BTW did you guys see the 1970 fj40 that sold at the RM auction in January (june issue of automobile mag) ... it sold for $77k ... yes it was a very clean rig

For me ... it is all about originality and drivability. I would like it to look as stock as possible. The stock brakes suck and the exhaust needs a cat ... I hate the exhaust smell.

you could subdue, not eliminate some of the exhaust fumes that circulate back into the cab with a few adjustments.

first make sure the vehicle is tuned up and combustion is optimal per ignition and carburetor.

second, if your tailpipe exits out the rear of the vehicle, angle the exhaust downward toward the road
