Mike's hammer and anvil ask...

Are upper front bumper brackets side specific? Mine are too mangled to really tell if they're supposed to be the same or not. I would imagine they should be.

Top and bottom brackets are the same both sides.

Thanks. Im hoping to have an FJ25 bumper on my rig for the first time since I've owned it. I'm taking Phil's mangled parts rig bumper and cutting the ends off, then mating them to Jim's FJ40 bumper.

Toyota Australia Advert

The ad now on the Toyota Website has been doing the rounds in Aust for awhile and I always find it pretty funny (especially considering we don't have and land based border - Is the border between the US and Canada like this? :D

Can't watch, Toyota must be looking out for me.............

Don't you guys have a couple colonies or at least a territory or something??:p

70 Series would be nice but Toyota will never do that..........maybe someday we can dream about getting a Mahindra here.

There have been quite a few spotted around denver. I saw one last week.

I did notice that the 70 is standard with both driver and passenger srs airbags. That's good news overall.

To get a vehicle in to the US that is under twenty-five year old is tricky. So I'm sure that drives the price up. These are grey market and you have to be careful how it's done. The web page you linked is a guy who is well know on Mud. Is prices are almost always high. Is use to be on Michigan but now is about one hunderd and fifty miles north of where I live and about sixty miles from my cabin. One of these days I going to have to take a drive and check is inventory out. In a couple of years you will start seeing the 70 series in the us. I know the BJ70 started in 1985 but I believe the troopy and pickup (ute to you) were a little later. In a couple of years maybe you can help me find a nice one.

The stories I've seen about Vintage is that they dont actually have inventory. They buy a vehicle from an owner. Then re-sell it for a profit before it even leaves the posession of the first owner. Then they have the vehicle transfered from the first owner to the new owner. Theyre just a broker.

That may still happed but he is also bringing them in from OZ also. He has had troopys and RHD FJ45 utes for sale. He is located in Flagstaff, AZ now and have seen pictures of them. There is a 83 FJ45 for sale in Phx right now. It was brought in by vintage offroad for a mud member on Mud who sold it to the owner in Phx. It is getting so close now to the 25 limit that I think i will hold out for a nice 70 series before buying anything 40 series from over seas. The 313 area code is not a AZ area code so that may be his cell phone from back in Michigan.

No probs - there a loads of them over here. Owned an 84 myself at one time (Petrol).

25 years is actually not too as bad as Aust - it is thirty years to bring vehicles this way. (As I have recently found out).

Vintage Off Road may have to go through a lot to get them here but I'd imagine it is like Mustangs into Australia. There are that many people bring them in ... in any condition and the demand is there. Even still ... the asking price is making a fair profit.

If anyone wants to look at one over here let me know happy to help out where I can.

can anybody else see the 1961 cruiser in this picture? may be a cruiser for Dean? :)
1961 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 for sale!

Yup, I know it...it's actually a '65. Pretty rough shape considering...and I am not talking about the funky paint job.

The owner is a really nice guy, and has some really, really cool cruisers

"The original Kamm Coupé, named after aero-pioneer Wunibald Kamm, was the only one of BMW's five Mille Miglia * cars to remain in Germany after the war, ultimately ending up destroyed in a scrap heap somewhere in 1953. Now, in order to make its troupe of traveling 1940 sports cars complete, BMW Classic has built an exact replica from scratch....."
