Thanks! :)

Ahh you mean the door hinge ;)
Not yet haha, having to much fun driving it :)
I might take one apart tonight, the wife went to some opera/music event thing,
so I am just hanging with the dog.

Renting a small shop space near my house in june.
Going to take every thing apart and clean / remove surface rust.

You take your rig out this weekend at all?

don`t know if I would restore her too new,
think I would not(would only prevent rust)
she looks so cool, marvelous, fantastic, great as she is
Most guys make new cars and the "history of the car" is gone!
Would think about that ;)
Cheers

Thanks Peter :)

Yeah nixing the rust is a big concern of mine.
I want it to last forever:)

I will likely take it all apart and remove all rust.
Might paint it "patina" by shooting it with enamel and wet sanding it so it does not have the wet shiny look...

Some one was explaining it here:

https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/68536-official-color-code-thread-need-pics-9.html#post4447007

I do like the patina as well, but nixing/preventing the rust for good is my main concern :)

If you have any ideas let me know :)

Thanks :)

Yeah I need to order the door seals then rebuild them.

let me know if you need any part #'s. They are all on mud somewhere but if you can't find them let me know.

Brunox seems intresting for sure.

however it says it requires a top coat yes?

"BRUNOX® epoxy is very suitable for dipping and sealing closed containers. A top coat must then be applied."

Am I misunderstanding?

Have you used this on the body of your fj?
How long has it kept rust at bay?

Thanks!

Destin

I used it on the underside of my 45
(pic is before ;))

fj453027.jpg

step by step ;)
first I cleaned the surface
than used
Brunox
than applied a special paint for the underside
called " Chassislack"
Branto-Metall- coating (three in one) see:
Brantho-Korrux 3in1 - Information in English
made all the underside and frame with these products
than
sprayed all with fluidfilm (also inside doors , frame and so on ;))
http://www.fluidfilm.de/pdf/Technical Data Sheet FLUID FILM Liquid A.pdf
and all seams with Mike Sander grease
all these products you can get at
Korrosionsschutz-Depot - Fachhandel für Rostschutz und Fahrzeugrestaurierung
Cheers
