I got a sweet deal on takeout suspension from a bilstein fj trail teams, the shocks are silver and blue. The suspension is out of a 2012 and has low miles. Will this suspension work on a gx. I've read online that the rear shocks maybe a problem. Anyways looking for a cheap way to retain the stockish height and remove the airbags and spendy shocks.

I am not sure about overall fitment, but I ran those rear springs for a few months and was unhappy - seemed ok at first, but they were too mushy for the GX.

Really? What did you end up going with? And is your truck basically stock. I'd heard the fj springs were beefier than the 4Runner and a good option. Thanks for the reply.

I think the FJ suspension changed after 2009 to the 150 chassis. Cant remember exactly what changed but Im sure someone with more knowledge on it will chime in

I got custom coils made to my specs. Truck is sorta stockish (see sig): removed 3rd row seats, loaded up to go camping (solo) and a beach trip (with wife), the rear end squatted down and was constantly hitting the bumpstops. It'd hit the bumpstops unladen on bumps in the road, just way too soft & mushy. Springs had 40k mi from a 2010 FJC TT.

The the ATV and trailer are roughly 750lbs, and the back of the truck is loaded with camping gear. Hardly sagged at all.

Putting Icon expedition springs in the rear of mine next week. The heavy Iron Man 4x4 springs are STIFF, even with my armor and gear...need to soften up the ride. Pink panties and all that :P

I put those on my FJC last year and they are perfect for my setup. It sits level with cargo area full+trailer (and you've seen what I haul) and just about 1" higher in rear when empty. Nice ride at any weight load though.

Apparently you got good used springs and I got bad used springs.

I just bought a full 2007 FJ Cruiser suspension set so I could replace my rear air springs with the Metaltech conversion kit and the FJ rear springs.

Should I replace the rear shocks and front suspension as well with the FJ parts? My GX has 120k miles on it and the FJC suspension has 77k.

Are those the progressive springs? Think that is what I need when the airbags go and lift goes on.

Is there a difference in the fj springs over the years to explain the difference in opinions. I've heard they are heavier duty than the 4Runner making them a good choice for the gx.

Yes, they are progressive.

Thanks. I run mine totally empty for most daily driving and load it down for trips. Seems like the way to go.
