transfer over a vw 1.9l tdi in there, youll get up 50mpg, and should beable to cruise at 75 no problem.
they are cheap, turboed, and plentyful, and can push 300hp if you get enough fuel in it.

That is something I can agree on. That is actually an awesome motor when you tweak the setup and get new injectors.

the only downside with that engine is a lack of real torque for such a heavy rig,,,

have a look at the international 3.0, i know a couple who put one in theyre FJ60, it cruises at 70 all day long, pulls hiway grades in 5th gear and is getting 27mpg and climbing as the engine continues to break in.
