Hi everyone,
I picked up a used FJ-60 hood with no rust......but dents on almost EVERY inch of the panel. The hood was so dented that it should have been tossed, but I wanted body repair practice. My only guess is that an elephant walked across this hood.
I set out to attempt to fix it. Given the numerous dents, some large and deep, filler was without question needed. The ribs of the hood were also separated from the hood frame, so they required attention as well. Hopefully in the next few days it will be ready for some 4E9 paint.

It looks like a major amount of filler, but the amount of filler on the hood is very thin. I did work the metal to get the dents out. My new favorite tool is the weld on stud puller.

Looks really good. Are you going to take it all to bare metal?

I don't think I am going to take the entire hood down to bare metal. The OEM paint is doing well and not pealing, so I think it will provide a good base.

Ok well after a very long delay the hood is finally finished and installed on my FJ 60. I think it came it great, considering where it started from. Now the problem is that the hood is the best part of my truck!

I will let the pictures spaek for themselves.

The hood was sprayed with epoxy primer after it was sanded down to bare metal. More primer.........

Then finally the base coat/clear coat. I used all PPG products, and they seemed to work very well.

Looks good. What product did you use to tack the support members back to the hood skin? Color code of the paint?
