I have a 72 pig and my driver door is in bad shape. The window frame has broken loose from the lower door and I cannot get a good seal when shutting the door. I think the damage is from the previous owner slamming the door instead of adjusting the catch.

I am preparing to rebuild and wanted to know if anyone has successfully repaired a broken door? Or-has anyone swapped a later model door without the wind wing? Seems like these might be a better way to go.

Thanks

Actually, I was planning on repairing a driver's door today. I do not think it is that hard to repair. Their is some very thin sheet metal that holds the channel on the rear of the door. This snaps right off, I was just going to weld mine back into shape. On the wind wing side, the metal is thicker, but bends instead of breaking. (it did crack on my passenger side, just drilled a new hole. Also, the entire channel/frame has welds that break easy, especially when someone installs weatherstripping that is too large.

I'll let you know how it goes. All 4 of my doors have damage of some sort. The cracks on the inside of the rear doors is a wierd flex related one.

Time for some half doors. Actually I contemplated fixing my doors they were in a similar sounding condition. It didnt seem like it would be to hard.

I have cherry 71 doors. Has anyone ever swaped the tops to non vent window tops?
