I have a friend from UNM that got a "buy one get one free" FJ-40 deal. He ended up with a 69 Cruiser and a 71 Cruiser. He's got the 69 running, and wants to keep that, but his wife wants the 71 out of the yard ASAP. It's going for the fair price of FREE. The Cruisers came from NM, so there is no rust in the parts that he is getting rid of.

This is what I saw last night when I went over to check it out. There's almost enough for a complete Cruiser, but you'd need a few body panels to make it all work in the end. Anyhow, here's what I remember seeing:
  • 2 pairs of hard top sides with complete glass in all four parts
  • 71 FJ-40 frame with front clip, axles, rims/tires, springs, some tub parts (taken apart)
  • Fiberglass top section (needs a little bit of love, but has potential
  • Grill with headlight cover
  • 2 front doors with complete glass and inside panels
  • Pair of front fenders
  • Solid rear tailgate
  • Rear hatchback panel for hardtop with glass
  • Seats (both from Cruisers and from other doner vehicles)
  • Hood with windshield tie downs
  • Dash parts
I'm out of town on business today and tomorrow, but will post his phone number when I'm back in town on Thursday August 2.

Like I said, his wife wants the parts out of the yard, and all for the fair price of

Rory,

I'll split it with you. What's half of nothing? I need a hood and grill parts and my fiberglass top is in need of a lot more than a little TLC. I have a few places I can store the parts as well if you don't have enough space. Tell me when and where to be if you need me pick some of it up. I'm gone camping this Thursday through Sunday afternoon though.

Warning, stay away from me! (Bad Luck Omen!)

When I saw this post yesterday, ouch. Are you guys going to have anything left of those parts? Everytime I work on something of my '71 40, I have to fix more. I knew I had some body work to do, but I got tired of looking for used panels. I ordered some new and they finally came in yesterday, then I saw this post (SOB!). I bought mostly the front, but if any rear panels that are availble you don't need would be helpful.

Other than that, I think you guys said you want the rest that I need:

Grill: I am working on making my own: PO chopped mine?
Rear tail gate: One of the PO decided that a diamond plate of steel and a couple of 2x6's would look nice.
And of course the fiberglass top: I guess th same PO thought it would be nice to cut it to provide cover for only the front?

If you guys are looking to sell them let me know, otherwise let me know what else is availabe.

I also have a truck and trailer to move anything if you need help.

Sorry I made the post and then disappeared. I was up in Denver for a business meeting this week and got back late last night.

The phone number for the 40 parts is HERE NOW!

The owner's name is:

Isaac Brito
514-9689 (c)
352-0114 (h)

He lives off of Unser at the following street address:

7708 Redwood NW

Give him a call, he'll be glad to get those 40 parts out to good owners! Tell him that I gave you his phone number.

Originally I was going to pick these up for a project of my own, but I've already made plans for an additional vehicle here this winter. I don't really have room for two extra vehicles quite yet...

I just talked to Isaac, he was under the impression that Brandon had dibs on the rig.

He is going to be out of town on a backpacking trip till Sunday (lucky!) He said to call him back Sunday night...

Isaac here-

Well it ends up I didn't end up going on my trip. I didn't get the brakes fixed on the 69 cruiser, and attemted to ride to Colorado on my Ducati with a 60 lb pack on my back; I got as Bernalillo where it was raining hard and very windy, and decided to come back for saftey reasons.

intitially my college buddy Brandon had dibs on this, he is gone for the weekend (as I should be), but judging from his last post, he thought about it and changed his mind

Ruadhrigh called me and talked last night, so I guess he has dibs, the only thing I ask is that EVERYTHING is taken. The goal for me is to revert my yard from salveage yard status (or else my wife is going to kill me). I prefer to deal with one person (right now Ruadhrigh, unless he changes his mind) so regardless who takes it I want everything to go from my place and then parts can go there seperate way from there

there is no engine, x-fer case, tranny or drive shafts, I do have a title, . I will be working on the 69 truck, which I am keeping on Saturday, that would be a good time for pickup, will need a flat bed and compressor. It is a rolling chassis but tyres will not hold air.

and while not required, any beer and/or help with the brake lines will be appriciated

let me be the first to welcome you to mud. Sorry to hear about your trip.

I have to work tomorrow but could probably pick her up in the afternoon. I know very little about brake lines, but I can try to help. I do know beer and I like sharing:D

I'll give you a call when I figure what is up with my flat bed access (later tonight). And no worries I'll take it all.

Rory,

If you need help, I just sent a text to make sure our trailer is not being used. We use it to pull broken trucks. I am pretty sure it is not going to be needed. We have maybe two come-alongs to use, but incase not, if you have another that would help. Just offering help.

Thanks Rudy,

My buddy owns Big Dog Towing so I am going to cash in a favor. He has a fairly big flat bed and access to other trucks if needed. I am also going to store at his yard.
I will be sure to post of pics of the parts available.

Many thanks to Isaac for his generosity!

So I picked up the 71 and related parts today. Two tow trucks made short work of it all. There are a lot of parts, but its not a complete truck. I know I promised pics, but Onur ran over my camera so no pictures yet.

here is the list started by Brandon, I added the parts I could remember:
items in red I am keeping
items in Gold are Marc's
Dark Red items are David's

---all parts are good condition, with little to no rust. and the rust that is there is on the surface and can be taken care of easily---

2 pairs of hard top sides with complete glass in all four parts
-one set is complete and the other is just the sides

71 FJ-40 frame with title

axles

rims/tires

some tub parts (taken apart)
-mostly the front cowl and floor sections

Fiberglass top section (needs love)

Bib/Grill with headlights and an upside-down bezel

2 front doors with complete glass and inside panels

Pair of front fenders
-both in good condition

Solid rear tailgate

2 Rear hatch panels
-1 Green and 1 Blue both very nice condition and good glass

Hood with windshield tie downs (kinda rough)

Complete dash (all knobs, and a couple extra switches)

Seats:
I now have 5 sets of seats
-Two of the bench seat sets are hopeless
-another bench set I got from David (Jon had dibs but I think he found something better)
-a grey cloth bench seat looks like it came out of a 60
-a brown bench seat in very good condition and spans the rear of the 40 beautifully(made me think of Shawn)
-and lastly a nice set of bucket seats

I'd like front fenders, and a friend is looking for a title.

In order of request:

Marc
-hood
-bib/bezel
-fiberglass top

Rudy
Sorry there is no rear quarter panels, but the top sides are available

David
-Front fenders
-title
(does your friend need the vin plates? I did not look for them so they might not be there)

I am not looking to make any money off these parts (they cost me a six pack of St. Pauli Girl Dark, and a 4 pack of Guinness) but I do ask that we provide some beer to the owner of the yard. He is a good friend and I don't want to take advantage of his generosity.
Besides he likes the cheap stuff so it won't cost much to keep him happy! :D
